Why aren't there any extensive government funded or run searches for cryptids like the loch ness monster and other things? That way there could be a definitive answer and the mystery would be solved?

Well what about the underwater caverns that scientists say can go for miles and have air pockets in Loch Ness and Lake Champlain? No one has bothered looking there for these things.

I agree, there should be government funded research into possible new species such as the loch ness monster.
As well, it is completely possible there is an animal that could live under in those caverns.

Because fairly definitive studies have been done and its fairly clear that there is no Loch Ness monster. TV and other media keeps these stories alive for the rating factor.

With real public issues like security and health sucking up available resources, it’s hard for a government to justify spending on searching for a legendary creature.

Because everyone knows none of that stuff is real. It has absolutely no bearing on everyday life, and most governments have bigger things to worry about. Besides, people would be mad if they knew their tax money was being wasted on such foolishness.

I'd rather have my tax dollar fund "real" research, not chasing myth and folklore.
