Strive on bad news? Not sure what that means. I am a democrat and beg to differ about my party looking for bad news about the US. There is a lot of negative things going on out there and the republicans are in power and there IS an election year coming up so perhaps the party is drawing attention to the negative to shake confidence and offer hope in a new party. The republicans are guilty of it too so don't get up on a high horse here now ya hear?

The reason most democrats thrive on bad news is that they care more about winning elections than protecting America. I am getting tired of those liberals blaming Bush all the time. What is Bush doing that congress didn't give him the authority to do. Get mad at your elected representatives not Bush. Why man didn't get us into war and one man will not get us out.

The bigger question is why the Republican party wants to demonize the people asking the questions that need to be asked and answered.

Unfortunatly it is because the news IS bad. No amount of ''stay the course'', ''the surge is working'' rhetoric will make it any better.

You "strive for" something; you don't "strive on" something.
You meant to say "thrive."
And they don't.
