If Ron Paul wants drastic changes to the monetary system, might this be one of them if current trends continue? Are we moving to a world monetary system after this one crashes? I am not promoting anyone here. I have just been doing a lot of research on were to put my retirement money, and dollars seems like a really bad idea given the current inflation trends.

I have actually been under the impression that we are headed toward that right now .There are some people who speculate that the North American Free Trade Agreement is leading us there (as doug above said, the "Amero").

I am no broker, but I wouldn't go with the dollar.

No, it's called the Amero. Ron Paul wants the opposite of what you suggested. He wants our monetary system to be backed by gold once again, and abolish the Orwellian voodoo system of the Federal Reserve, which is neither "federal" nor "reserve."

Of course with any investment, it's a good idea to diversify. I'd think about precious metals, then stocks, bonds, and real estate, in that order.
