Castor oil always worked for me, but I know it doesn't work for everyone. Your cervix must be ripe for anything to work. I took 2 tbs of castor oil every 2 hours for 6 hours and it's put me into labor for four out of my five children.
Just expect to spend alot of time in the bathroom.

I used the breast pump method-- strap on a breast pump for 5 minutes, once an hour. This will release pitocin (just like what the hospital does to induce labor) and if you're ready may start your labor. The key is IF YOU"RE READY-- AND THE BABY IS READY. I was not dilated at all. I was having braxton hicks contractions regularly. Please don't try this EVER before 38 weeks. You could cause serious harm to your baby. Mine was clearly ready-- he was born the next day at 7 lbs 4 oz. even though he was early (38 weeks 2 days). I only did it because I was trying for a 2006 baby for the tax deduction, and ended up with the second baby of the new year.

Nipple stimulation is the only thing that actually causes a natural hormone change to encourage labor that has not yet started.
Everything else only causes intestional cramping, dehydration and contractions without results.
I labored 43 1/2 hours by nipples stimulation. I was 50% effaced and barely 1cm when my water broke from being constipated and pushing too hard. Even when pushing I had to stimulate my nipples to bring on a contraction.
Rub or pinch them for 20 minutes at a time every hour, dont stop until you're in active labor. It causes a change in your hormones that encourages the on set of active labor.
But dont do it until you're full term, not before 38 weeks.

my due date exchange into yesuturday, and that i've got tried each and every thing to get hard paintings started!!! i walk my yet off, rake leaves, carry laundry baskets up and down stairs, intercourse, castor oil, rigidity factors on the two hands and feet, nipple stimulation... and none of them have labored for me... i basically have been given relatively sore hands and feet and nipples... i assumed my physique could be waiting because of the fact i went into hard paintings at 31 weeks and had to get photos to end it... and im a million a million/2 cm dilated, ninety% effaced, and infant is extremely low, even though it did no longer paintings. oh and that i did eat a ton of pineapple besides... unfortunatly a majority of those issues that they inform you that set off hard paintings are basically previous different halves thoughts and none of them have ever been shown to relatively paintings that i understand of a minimum of... lots of the time whilst somebody tries to do one among them, thats no longer the element that starts off hard paintings its in user-friendly terms a coincedence. yet in spite of this it probable has labored for some women people... i do no longer understand. you could consistently attempt and notice if it works... the two way you haven't any longer something to lose... good success!

Ya I have tried something 3 times- and it works everytime!!! It's called "let nature take its course". I use this method because I know that using herbs and castor oil can be very dangerous for me and my baby.
You are almost there anyways, what's the rush?
Take care and best wishes.
REGARDING YOUR "ADDITIONAL DETAILS":
YOU ASKED ABOUT LABOR INDUCTION AND DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT HAVING PAIN OR A BACK PROBLEM.
NEXT TIME BE MORE CLEAR ABOUT YOUR SITUATION WHEN ASKING A QUESTION. DON'T PUT THAT INFORMATION IN LATER.
IF YOU ARE IN THAT MUCH PAIN THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR DOCTOR OR GO INTO HOSPITAL TO GET SOME GET SOME RELEIF, INSTEAD OF PLAYING AROUND ON YOUR P C. I WORK IN LABOR AND DELIVERY AND MOST WOMEN I HAVE SEEN IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN ARE UNABLE TO TALK, LET ALONE GET ON THEIR COMPUTER TO ASK QUESTIONS. ONCE AGAIN BEST WISHES.

Castor oil doesn't work, it will make you contract but the contractions aren't sending you into labor, only thing you can do is walk alot and nipple stimulation.

There is NO guaranteed way to naturally induce labour. None.
No, castor oil is not safe. Don't do it. And it usually does not start labour.

In order for you to go into labor, your baby has to release a hormone at the same time you do. this isn't something you can force. You can force YOUR hormone (oxytosin), but not the baby's.
