If not a fuel filter (or perhaps a fuel pump), if you have a catalytic converter, it may be clogged. Any of these things can cause the stuttered performance, and I know because I've had all of them happen. To the same vehicle LOL

These trucks had some common problems. Yes, check the fuel filter or just replace it. You could have a fuel pressure issue, but this doesn't sound like what you've got. I would check the secondary ignition wires and spark plugs. Remove every plug wire, one by one, at the dist. cap and the spark plugs to inspect for corrosion or carbon tracking. Do the same to the coil wire. If you find any corrosion, replace everything as far as a complete set of wires, cap, rotor, and coil if nec. I would also look at the pick up coil and module inside the dist for a green corrosion as well.

Definitely check the fuel filter, injectors, spark plugs, and wires.And( obviously) the air cleaner, plus any vacuum hoses.

Try the simple things. Make sure timing is correst. Check spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter and or injectors.

have a diagnostics done you may need to replace that gear and your clutch. Just a thought
