Abortion- I would have better things to fix, than worrying about the personal decisions of other people.

Specific gun control- I would make sure every man woman an child that could pass a psych evaluation, was familiar with gun safety, how to shoot well, and owned their own.
After that, I'd make sure all felons, and lunatics didn't have one.

Free Trade- There is no such thing when your own companies are competing with communist labor. I'd tax the heck out of imports, and use the income for national security.

Income tax structure- anyone making under 20,000 a year would be tax exempt. I'd get rid of any and all loopholes and exemptions for anything but children, education, and domestic job creation.

added value economics-w ould be something I would have to think about for a little while because in some areas it gets quite complicated, while in others it appears easier to affect.
If you are referring to a specific area, just state it.

Reduce abortion by proving sex education in schools and free birth control for all adults.

Minors, criminals, mentally disturbed people cannot buy, sell, or own guns of any kind. Guns are allowed for self-defense, hunting, and collecting purposes. No military style assault rifles.

Free trade - All countries must follow the same rules as regards to wages and environmental laws. Countries that don't are penalized with taxes on the import of their products to make up the difference.

Taxes - Everyone pay their fair share. Rollback the Republican tax breaks for the wealthy. Rollback Republican tax breaks for companies that move their headquarters and their jobs overseas.

This is a most difficult question to answer.
What kind of lasting change can you do in one day that won't be reversed by the next king or queen?
Going to have to think on this one for a while.

edit:
I given this some thought. Of all the areas you mention, I would have to go with changing the tax structure. It seems as thought once a tax code is enacted, it's near impossible to change. Here's what I would do;

I would change the current progressive tax system to a conbination of a federal sales tax of 6% on all goods and services, except food, and a progressive tax, as we have now, on all incomes over $100K. I would allow a tax credit of $6000 for all incomes over $100k.
Individuals and families with incomes under $100k wouldn't even need to file tax returns. This income level today contributes less than $300 billion in federal taxes. Replacing this income level taxpayer with a 6% sales tax would bring in over $800 billion in federal taxes.
Also since most consumer goods are now produced outside of the USA, a federal sales tax would be a way to tax offshore production. It would also tax the underground economy. Anyone who trades goods and services in cash most often don't pay federal taxes. They do buy stuff, tho. People who make large amounts of money, say in selling illigal drugs, would be paying federal sales tax on all the expensive toys they buy.
Taxing incomes of under $100k only on money they spend and not on money they save, could very well help to increase savings in the USA. As example, people who rent housing would be better able to save money to buy their own homes. The federal sales tax would apply to the purchase of a home but not the cost of rented housing.
I see this as a reasonable tax structure. A tax on general comsumption and a progressive tax on those who have reached the road to success. Given the fact that this system would cut most middle class tax burdens in half, I would think it would be difficult for the next king or queen to change. I also think it could very well balance the federal budget in the first year.

If it was just for a day I wouldn't do anything.

Because within a month it will all be reversed back to normal, not to mention what I would do could not be done within a day.

But I would make a trip down to Guantanamo and get as much information as I can from a full inmate prison interrogation sweep. Take restrictions off of soldiers and allow them to have a full day to do what they trained to do: hunt down and kill/capture the enemy. If I was in charge for a day, I would do what can be done in a day that will stick. Such as information on paper, video and witnesses. And bodies of the enemy racking up (or POWs) instead of bodies of our soldiers.

Abortion: Not my life, or my choice.
Specific gun control: None. Then, only criminals would be the ones with guns.
Free Trade: Nix
Income tax structure: Abolish and install fair tax.
Added value economics: need to think more on this one.
