I lift weights 5 times a week and try to eat clean. I just can't seem to lose my gut. I guess I'm looking for some new advise to shock my system. Any ideas?

Crunches will help you lose belly fat only if you do them right. When you lay down and come up for a crunch act as if you are pulling your belly button to the floor. This action gives your muscles the resistance needed to burn fat. Most people push their stomachs up which doesn't do anything at all.
so Just remember as you lift for your crunch and your belly looks like a dome suck it in!

Belly fat is the most difficult to lose but not impossible. Mostly it is diet. Calories in < calories out is key. Sit ups will make your ab muscles stronger but will not do anything to remove the fat and they work the hip flexors more than abs. Cardio training will help burn off calories but it must be an intense workout not just a walk in the park. Jumping rope, sprints, something that keeps your midsection tight while you do it works well. Crunches? give em up, most people don't do them properly anyway. And it doesn't matter what you eat if you too much.

Combination of Cardio and Weight training help love body fat in the entire body. Google HIIT training. It is a relatively new way of doing the same old cardio workout to shock the body into burning more fat. Good luck

In case you are wondering, HIIT - Hight Intensity Interval Training.
