*Drink like 10 cups of green tea (decaf) a day. Keeps you hydrated AND green tea is a very powerful at treating colds.
*2-3 RAW garlic cloves a day that you cut up, mash with a spoon, wait 15 minutes and then mix with food (must take with food, upsets stomach if don't). Note, anything else besides garlic in the raw state prepared this way is worthless. Fun fact, eating one or 2 cloves of garlic a day will strengthen your immune system so much you may never get colds again.
*avoid as m much sugar as possible. Sugar makes the immune system weaker
*Load up on vitamin c. I'd take 2000mg a day during a cold. But space it out. Your body can only process 200mg at a time.
*Chicken soup (but not from the can, but if you must) it works.
*Rest. Your body needs to heal itself, that's why it's knocked you enough that you don't feel like doing anythig.
*Comedy/friends - Talk on the phone with friends and watch funny movies. The good mood will help you heal better.

What stage are you in? To prevent a cold you need to keep vitamin C in your body which I understand is eliminated daily so you need a daily dose whether in eating fruits or vegs. that are high in vitamin C or taking a vitamin C pill.
If you feel that are you are starting to come down with a cold, sneezing, runny nose etc. than before you go to bed, take 2 aspirins and put some Vick's Vapor Rub around your nostils. No signs of a cold should be there when you awaken.
A full blown cold requires whatever cold med. works for you a really good hot cup of Pennyroyal Tea before going to bed. Stay under the covers.

Go see my answer for a sore throat.
If you have a fever as well . . . My dad always use to put on a wool cap, thermal underware, wool socks, gloves, and a stack of blankets. Then he'd just take a good long nap. He was always sick for less time than the rest of us. I have tried this since then and it really works.
I also love hot orange juice when I have a cold. To me it's very soothing.
Medical science is also starting to realize there really is something behind chicken soup as well.

Hot REAL chicken soup with LOTS of garlic, and ginger. I put in some onions and tomatoes in as well. This works all the time. Plus, have some fresh hot ginger tea during the day. You can add honey if you like (tastes really good!). If chilly keep your hands, feet, head, and neck warm. Hope this helps!!!
