I have been pretty constipated, but have been taking lots of fiber lately and it's working. Also try dried fruit! Everything I have read said this was normal because the hormone progesterone causes your digestive tract to be "lazy". I also let my dr. know and she didn't seem concerned at all. I'm not sure about the diarrhea though.

Yeah, it's normal. It's so annoying because I'll eat a banana trying to stop the diarrhea and then I get constipated and need something to help that. I didn't remember this with my 1st but I have it bad this time.

You definitely need to consult with your doctor. Although you are pregnant, everything should be running smoothly. Everyone's pregnancy is different. Therefore, you cannot gauge how you feel off of another person's experience. I just recently had my son, and my best piece of advice to you is to be open to opinions, read and education yourself, and if you are personally experiencing some symptoms that you don't think are right or feel right, than you need to call your doctor! Better safe than sorry!

Yes it's normal. I used to eat a big bowl of bran cereal everyday when I was pregnant to keep myself regular. It's annoying, but when you're further along the constipation can cause hemorrhoids which are even worse to deal with! You definitely want to up your fiber intake and prevent those suckers!!

Yes. Pretty normal. You're getting the diarrhea after the constipation clears because your system is clearing everything out...not unusual.

Try this first.
1) You need to make sure your water intake is high. 6-8 glasses a day.
2) Get some fiber, whether it be crackers, metamucil, etc.
If you do these two things, you should not have an issue.
If you continue to have a problem, contact our OB>

A lot of times the iron in your prenatal vitamins will constipate you. I would certainly call your OBGYN. They get all sorts of questions and are capable of answering them all.

It's totally normal. My OB/GYN suggested that I eat a handful of nuts each day for the roughage, and up my water intake. It worked for me!
