Your doctor will tell you all the genetic testing they recommend. I had the Ultrascreen at 12 weeks (checks for markers for Downs Syndrome and the Trisomies) and the AFP Testing at 16 weeks. There is also a Cystic Fibrosis test my OB's office does, but I did not have that one done.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

I had the AFP which my doctor highly recommended and I have had 3 ultrasounds so far and I'm 21 weeks pregnant. All my tests have been negative for any problems.

I am doing the first trimester scan (check for down syndrome). I will not do any testing that can cause me to loose the baby (amino or cvs I think it is). I will do u/s and blood work from my body that is it. As far as I am concerned if my baby is sick.... I will still love my baby either way. I am also getting the second trimester scan that checks for spinal defects and they will check my babys kidneys. Family history so its recommended.

I had the Quad screening test, and I've heard of the amniocentesis. Other than that I have no idea.
