michael vick is black...so automatically the race card is going to be played right away (right?)

and you know animal lovers...they want his blood..he should get life if you ask them

and last, he is pretty much a celebrity, not just a football player...and you know how that goes..if a celebrity or anyone like that is in court it is PRIORITY NEWS

i am being slightly sarcastic, but this really is the sad truth...just my thoughts..thanks for another michael vick question =)

I def think that 23 months is enough time. I doesn't matter which football star it was...he was going to get 23 months or less.
I'm not an animal lover, but I don't that they should've died the way that Vick and Co. took them out. I mean really...they're dogs...not humans. It's a shame these days that people value a dog's life over a human's.
However, I think we need to be reasonable here, he's an NFL football star, there's no way that he'll do more time that the judge gave him--black or not~! besides, sources are saying that he could possibly be out in 3-6mos for good behavior.

Race is not the reason people are saying it isn't harsh enough, stop making up lazy arguments. Most of the more irritating people on here are nuts that have this false notion of dogs and things. Dogs are wolves, wolves kill, dogs kill. Nearly all dog breeds were bred to either hunt, kill, or catch flees from their owners.

Vick's sentence is good enough for me, dog fighting is illegal, and Vick knew that. Why anyone would get pleasure out of watching two dogs tear each other apart is beyond me. There is a big difference between a Dog Fight and a fight between two dogs on the street; the dog's on the street aren't all that eager in killing each other and more often than not it is simply a squabble. Dog Fighting is different, and it is stupid.

Punishing him for killing dogs is idiotic. A dog is nothing more than glorified livestock. People are more valuable than dogs.

To the first stupid person who answered who cares if you are half black. Vick does not give people of his race a bad name, only you can do that to yourself. He has given himself a bad name and no one else. I am Black and just because Vick messed up does not take away from my bachelor's degree or the life i live at this time. I say its too much time because murder's get their charges reduced all the time and hardly serve anything. Child predators are out walking the streets right now and no one is hunting them down. They just have to register and get to live life as if they have done nothing wrong.

I am not one for saying he should not be punished but probation or community service would be just as fitting. Dogs get killed everyday, i see them on side of roads daily.
People in hollywood get DWI's and busted with drugs and get one hour in jail, they are out driving on your streets drunk and high and could possibly kill you but you are worried about some dogs. The humane societies kill dogs all year if no one adopts them but i guess thats ok.

I say 23 months is a stretch but they had to prove their point with someone and Vick was the one they got.

You've got a point. I'm not sure I agree with the race factor though. I see it as more the revenge/vengeance factor. Its like forgiveness is a dirty word to a lot of people. Never mind that he has repented.

Simply because it ISN'T enough. He got off having to only do HALF of what the Judge could have gave him. Now the simple fact is people don't understand what the CHARGE was. The charge was CONSPIRACY. He wasn't accused of doing it basically, he was accused of KNOWING about it by the Feds.
To the idiot above me talking about boxing, that is two people CHOOSING to fight. The dogs didn't decide to fight, they didn't have a choice. If you don't like dogs that's fine, BUT they still have feelings and can feel pain.

i think of it would be honest if he served all 23 months. I even have 5 canines and four cats and that i won't be in a position to think of all people doing such terrible issues to canines, yet our united states of america would not punish animal cruelty as we would prefer to desire. i do no longer think of he will truthfully serve extra advantageous than a 300 and sixty 5 days.

Because, a famous black man... on trial has intact polarizing opinions (either: too much, or too lenient). People feel strongly about treating animals, and that it says something about the level of depravity and carelessness of Life itself. Then, there are people that will make excuses for anyone that's famous... and feel especially for a black man, that he's being targeted, etc. etc.
_______

Sure, the crime is barbaric... but, the sentence is fair. Two years for making DOGS fight is a lot of time. It's a fair sentence. His life is ruined, and his income in nothing vs. the 20-30 million he's ALREADY lost. (you try that!)

For those just waking-up (and those that don't read anything about history).. making animals fight and wagering on them.. has been happening in the USA for 200 years, at least. Where do you think the phrase -- on Wall St. of BULLS and BEARS comes from? (even men of means, used to bet on fights in the STREETS of Manhattan!!!).

Wake up. This guy's finished.

I don't mind the sentence. It does seem that the ringleader should probably get more than 5 months more than all the guys that rolled over on him, though. And if it was Tom Brady I would feel the same.

FOR DOG FIGHTING? 2 YEARS FOR DOG FIGHTING? The US justice system stinks!!! I just seen two dogs fighting on the side of the street by themselves. Mike Vick...just organized it! and he gets two years? He could have organized two humans fighting (called boxing) and got a million dollars! This has nothing to do with race.. this has to do with a bunch of sissy activitis complaining to the judge at how inhumane it is. Quess what people....THEY'RE NOT HUMAN! they re dumb pets. Let em fight. Free Michael Vick... I'm going to already start making the t-shirts. lol....hehehehehe. where's the real fellas at? You know u guys don't give a darn about that...as long as its not ur dog. U know what s wrong? the pet shelters putting certain dogs to sleep because of over crowding. U tell me what's the difference. Both animals are getting killed. At least Vick's way...u can fight for you life. lol
