Yes, you can do carry-on or in your luggage. X-ray won't harm it, I'd just put in your luggage since you can't use it on the plane. You can take laptops on a plane, so why not a Wii?
Some whacky answers above, a Wii makes you a terrorist!_!

You can do either. Security's devices won't damage it at all. Baggage handling may, so I'd definitely pack it in your carry-on. You may have to take it out of your bag for the conveyer belt at security like lap-top owners do, so keep it accessible. Ask the guys at security if you should take it out.
Even if it didn't get thrown around in baggage handling, would you want to risk it being lost in your luggage? (or stolen out of your luggage? i've had this happen with stuff before.) Keep it on your person!
But definitely bring it! A Wii would MAKE Christmas day for the whole gang!
I'm including the link to the Trasportation Security Agency's guidelines on permitted and prohibited items for air travel. Notice that they say to put fragile things like laptops in your carry-ons.
EDIT: They also use x-rays on checked baggage. In fact, those are even stronger. At the San Francisco airport they warn you that the checked baggage x-rays will damage film (if it's in a camera), as opposed to the carry-on security gate x-rays which won't. Honey, do NOT check your Wii!!!

Well, i don't really know if an airplane has a TV or a plug, but the wii itself needs a plug and it needs to be connected to the TV, so probably no. Unless it's some weird high tech airplane lol.
No x-ray wont damage it, just keep it safe in the luggage.

Yes, you can bring it with you. It's probably better if you put it in a suitcase rather than carry it on. When you carry it on, you'll have to get it inspected. The safety inspector might ask you to turn it on, examine it for a while. It'll take longer. When you put it in your suitcase, wrap it around a lot of clothes so that it will absorb the bumps while it's getting loaded and unloaded.
X-rays will not damage the Wii. I've had my PS2 X-ray several times and no damage was done to it.

Should not be a problem either way. If you put it checked luggage, make sure it's well padded and protected. Baggage handling is murder on fragile items.
Security screenings won't bother it.
Call your airline and ask if you have questions about being able to check or carry on anything. That's the only way to get accurate information.

I haven't brought my Wii with me on trips, but I have brought my computer. If you alert the TSA or the airport staff that you have a valuable, delicate electronic device in your baggage, they will usually open up your luggage and swab it for bomb-materials, however, the X-rays should NOT damage your Wii.
My links should answer your question more fully from the TSA with information on whether or not you can bring it, and from a health society with information of the effect of X-rays on different devices.

Carry on for sure! Don't risk checking it, you may lose it or it may get damaged, I would suggest putting it in the box that it came in so the sensor bar doesn't get broken or damaged. There will be no issue with security. You may not even need to take it out of your carry on bag.

I definitely would not put in your luggage because they toss those around like rag dolls. You can put it with your carry on belongings, it will go through the x-ray machine, but it will not get damaged.

You can carry it on the plane. And I would recommend that too. If you have flown more than a handful of times you would know that the airport tends to lose luggage. I carried my PS2 on the plane.

the x-ray wil not damage your wii and you can take it on the plane in a bag as a carry on but you can only have two carry on items i would advise making it a carry on because it might get stolen in security checks
