Measure the outside diameter of the pipe where the muffler clamps on ,and the length of the muffler, like 1 3/4" or 2 ". Then go to,
http://www.jirehcycles.com
check out their selection, they have very low prices and something like the 64-404 , the 64-405 or the64-415 or the 64-425, depending on length would be fine.

Unfortunatley, adding any slip ons is just the first step. Adding them will change the air fuel mix. Depending on what year the bike is, tells us whether it is carburated or fuel injected. If carburated, you need to have it re jetted. If injected, you have to have the FI changed thru either a computer down load (around $150.00) or thru an add on like the V&H fuel pak ($280.00) or similar, or the Harley Davidson "race tuner" ($380.00 plus up to 5 hours of tuning on the dyno at $89.00 per hour). AND, if you are changing the mufflers, you should also do the stage 1 harley davidson air intake kit (another $150.00) at the same time. By doing both changes at the same time, and re setting the air/fuel mix, he will gain up to 25 hp. As for which kind of slip ons, go to Dennis Kirk or J&P cycle online for a some ideas and prices.
Sorry, but it isn't gonna be cheap.

The HD 1200 FLH was last built back in 1978 I think. If you do know the year of the bike, and it is that old, your local HD shop will not be to helpful. They don't like being bothered with the old stuff. Slip on's are fairly cheap and plentiful though. Are there any independently owned shops around you? They sell parts from aftermarket companies that make the parts for old bikes. IF you have the exact model and year of the bike they would help you. If not, then the gift cert. is your best bet. Your hubby knows what he wants, let him get it. I have the same issue with my wife too, and it never bothers me if she doesn't know what to get.

1200 FLH... Sounds like you're old man's riding a Shovelhead. If that's the case, good luck dealing with any HD shop. Most of them won't even touch a bike that old. If I were you, I'd be looking into some of your local independant shops. They should be able to help you out.

jpcycles.com--vintage&restoration catalog. looks like part# 450-088 should work, about $80 each or they've got some universal types for under $60 each.
jirehcycles has some cycle shack universals for $104 a pair.

Get a gift certificate to the H-D shop or get him to give you the part # for what he wants. There is a wide assortment & if you buy the wrong ones it could embarrass you both.

If he feels he really needs loud pipes then I suggest getting him a slip on penis extender or a subscription to Giant Homo magazine. Anyone who thinks they need a loud Harley to perpetuate the myth that noise=power while supporting the fact that all Harley riders are closeted homos or small dicked heteros is a mouth breathing waste of carbon.

Do the neighborhood a favor and leave the stock pipes on. Besides why in the world would you want to put a racing exhaust system on a bike that has absolutely no sporting potential whatsoever?
