I am a guy who is trying to become less conservative. I have purchased some nice bracelets, rings and necklaces. I love wearing them...it makes me feel special and outside my "comfort zone". But I have been unable to wear this stuff around friends and co-workers. I am afraid of their reaction.

Wear it, they probably wont even notice and if they see it they will assume you have always worn it. You can pull anything off if you wear it with confidance.

I kind of know where you are coming from-I was 'stuck in a look' and wanted to change it up. Some people said thing, "wow, you look different" and some people just looked. I wondered what they thought, but then -not- these were people who never talked to me before anyway.

Is excessive jewelry allowed at your place of business? Id start small-a thumb ring or a middle finger ring and a necklace or a bracelett or two. See how you feel wearing it out. Its all about you anyway, not other people.

But are you wearing a leather shark tooth necklace with a button down shirt? What is your wardrobe. Maybe work isn't the best place to wear your new look. A lot of people have to take off certian jewelry for work place dress codes.

If your friends say anything, dont get defensive, just tell them, "I like wearing it-Im trying to break out of the 'consertive' stereotype Ive been in".

Good luck finding out who you are!

Just start off small and ease your way in. Wear some rings for a few weeks, then add necklace, etc. Their surprised reactions will be over by the time you get to the necklace!

Try wearing one, unobtrusive thing at first, maybe a thong type or ethnic necklace that can only be glimpsed at, under your shirt, or a ring that could be anything. Then if either you get no remarks or just positive ones you could be a little more adventurous but just don't be tempted to bung everything on at once, unless you want to look like a hippy!
Just remember that your style is your own, and can evolve and unless you have really mean friends and colleagues they are unlikely to be negative, except maybe in a teasing manner.

Wear whatever you like. I'm a straight guy, and I wear quite a bit of jewelry. Most people are used to me wearing it, but I get occasional comments and some friendly jokes. I wear a ring on each hand, a bracelet, a Gucci watch, one or two gold chains, a 1/4-carat diamond earing in the carteledge of my right ear, and a full carat diamond in my left ear lobe. All in all, my jewelry is worth more than $5,000. I consider it my personal savings account.

Why not try a piece at a time? Try a nice ring first, then after a couple of weeks, maybe a bracelet, then a chain. I am sure that your friends and co-workers will notice and remark affirmatively about your new "bling-bling".

Just take it in stride. They will probably ask you about it, and just answer, "Oh, I saw it in [insert place or something] and thought I'd try it." Chances are, they'll either compliment you or leave it alone after that.

Unless of course your family is of some faith where men don't wear jewelry, and to do so is against their faith. Then I would be afraid about wearing jewelry in front of them.

Why are you starting to wear it? Are you trying to tell them something, like trying to come out of the closet? IF so, this will start them wondering if you are gay.
If you are not gay, or even if you are, wearing lots of jewelry is generally tacky. Maybe they will question your good taste.
Just wear something that looks GOOD on you, that doesn't make you look tacky, whether you are gay or straight.

don't wear them all at once....start out with a ring..or bracelet, wear just that one piece for a few weeks...then add more. If you wear them all at once then you friends will definitely say something....let it be gradual.
