does the holiday season bring out the "blues" in so many people?

Holidays remind us of our loved ones who are no longer with us. Some by their choice, some thru no one's fault.

Children whose parents are divorced wish that Mom and Dad would come back together so that they could spend Christmas with both parents at once again.

For example, for six years after my wife ran off our children would, on their birthday, beg Mom to go out for dinner with us as a family and for six years she refused.

After six years Mom moved far away so it was no longer practical to ask and since she had refused for six consecutive years when she lived only 6 miles away, they gave up asking.

Others miss loved ones who are no longer living.

And its hardest on families when the family break up occured on or around a holiday

In my case, one of my parents passed away on Christmas Day.

And when I gather with my children on Christmas Day, they miss their Mom.

We always invited her to join us but she refuses.

I think maybe it's because we are expected to be happy and festive during the holiday season so when people are all joyful then we notice it more.

It's also a time to spend with others, so if you are alone then it feels worse than any other time. There are so many reasons and it's all individual for each person.

because they may have lost someone around the holiday season.
It may be the first holiday they've celebrated because of the above
they may have no money
they may have no one to spend time with
another year has one by and nothing good has happened for them.

don't know about other people, but me, yes. I don't get presents, and keep seeing all the commercials on tv about gifts, it's irritating. Furthermore, well, some other reasons that I won't mention here.
