Is there any possibility it burned out any of my pci cards or internal drives or would it just be motherboard/memory/or possibly a power supply unit/video card problem?

If you attempted to install the wrong ram you probably shorted some of the ram pins on the motherboard. Since the rams is switched on before the pci slots, you probably are ok with any ad on cards or any of the other hardware. But this is easy to check. After you have replaced the board, any other problems will then show up. Ram is "slot, pin, and type" specific" so in the future, be careful.

What exactly is the problem?

The possibility of a RAM stick burning up your motherboard is slim, unless you put it in there incorrectly and there happened to be a lot of dust in that immediate area.

But if you can tell me the problem I can help you out.
