Please can you help me as i am worried sick! I had a scan today and was told my baby has a swollen left kidney! I was also told that although unlikely it could be a sign of downs syndrome! Please could someone shed any light on all of this and also will i lose my unborn baby! Im so upset and i really need some reasurance that my unborn baby is going to live.

My daughter had a problem with her left kidney. It wasn't actually her kidney but the ureter that brings the urine to the bladder. Then she had reflux which allowed the urine to go back up into the kidney. This caused her kidney to swell. Hers didn't fixed until she was 3 years old. She had to have 3 surgeries to fix it. But she is now a healthy almost 9 year old girl. Its scary but it turned out okay. I suggest you make sure who ever works on your baby is a specialist for pediatrics. No general medicine doctors.
