My best friend's sister is having a baby boy in two months and was looking for unusual/unique baby names, and I suggested Adonis. Adonis was a Greek god who, according to mythology, was so incredibly beautiful that anyone who saw him instantly fell in love with him. I figured this would be an interesting name for a baby. She really wasn't sure, so what do you think? Would this be a good name for a boy? Any other suggestions?

I meant to add, he comes from a whole family of absolutely gorgeous people. His mother and father are both incredibly attractive and even in his whole extended family I can't find anyone who is ugly. That was the reason I figured Adonis would be a good name for him.

i like it. there was actually a little boy in my office the other day who's name was Adonis. and i thought wow thats different. but it didnt seem weird and out there when his parents called his name, it just fit so well and just flowed like any other name.
i think it's a strong name.

Adonis is a nice name, but what if the baby is not good looking? That would be a really hard name to have for that reason.

I'm not crazy about Adonis, as in real life most people are not incredibly beautiful, and don't instantly have people fall in love with them. That connection to the name is so strong, that it would be impossible for the child - and later man- to escape it, and that isn't fair.

I wouldn't suggest it. The culture would like for us to stay as close to the norm as possible. Adonis could cause problems in the future, either in school or the dating scene. It would demand a huge ego and in that respect an aggressive personality.

I really like the name Adonis! I also like Israel, that's my husband's name and he is incredibly beautiful as well, i have to beat women off of him!

What about Ari? I think it is the best name for a boy... When my husband and I have our first child we are hoping to use that name! Also, I think Adonis might sound kind of feminine.

i like the call Cheyenne for a woman. yet naming a boy Cyrus is like naming a woman Ursyla, there like from outer area or something. besides a boy ought to be named Hayden, that's what im gonna call my first boy & Breanna for a woman.
