Most crimes are committed by legally purchased guns from states that have a lenient gun control policy. Criminals don't build their own guns, they buy them. They get those guns in the easiest location possible which would be a state with a strong NRA lobby and loose buying restrictions.

I would rather say 'gun control advocates' rather than Democrats, because not all Democrats are pro gun control, and not all Republicans are pro gun rights.

I would agree that 'gun control advocates' can go too far and try to ban guns from law abiding citizens. Their argument is that normal citizens can sometimes lose control and use guns illegally or to harm themselves or others. Although there is a chance of that happening, if citizens do go 'postal', they don't need guns. A gun is a tool and a weapon. But so is a knife, and even a harmless tooth-pick, if used improperly.

Citizens do have a right to bear arms to protect themselves from intruders and from tyrannical governments. That is what the 2nd amendment gurantees. If a government tries to take it away, it is like kicking out a leg from a table that is the constitution, and the risk of a constitutional government collapsing becomes more imminent.

During prohibition of alcohol, only criminals had access to it. During prohibition of assault weapons, only criminals had access to it. Prohibition only outlaws something, and only outlaws will have access to it. Prohibition and banning doesn't make the threat or the 'undesirable elements' dissapear.

I'm a liberal, and I don't think anyone is trying to take guns away. There is even a strong argument that the "gun control" issue is a smokescreen to insure that the NRA's candidate make it into office more readily by scaring people into believing lies like "all Dems want to disarm America".

Liberals also do not coddle criminals. Liberals, in fact, go overboard in making laws harsh and overreaching. You will also find that liberals, not conservatives, will be the ones pushing for victim's rights boards, panels and advocacy groups.

Furthermore, there is nothing against the Constitution in making it more difficult to get a weapon. You have the right to own one and keep it. The government has a right to know that you have it as well, in keeping with the "well regulated" part of the 2nd Amendment.

Actually most Dems have given up on the gun grabbing, because it's a losing issue. Oh, many would love to ban guns if they could, but they won't lift a finger to do so, because it's a high probability they will not be re-elected.

And what's the first job of any politician? To be re-elected.

No, it's just that the DNC knows it has to cement its base -- and that base knows many, many people that ARE incarcerated.. therefore, the Dems are softer on crime.

PLUS, liberals don't carry guns -- live apart usually, and don't SEE any crime... and generally care about the Rights of the arrested. You think Barry aka Obama knows anything about the topic -- growing up in Hawaii? You won't even HEAR a Hillary talk about rape victims, inner city black on black crime, and DRUGS isn't EVEN a question in ANY Presidential Debate (they haven't even groomed any BLACK candidates in years!!!)... have you noticed? (these are your reasons, for this)... because they don't want to have this Base, begin to realize that they actually take their votes for granted, and really give a rats REAR END about improving anything -- except keeping that Status Quo of votes/ crime/ bleeding hearts/ "we can and we WILL do better!" nonsense going & going... (if you can do better, then when? and how?.. 8 years in the White House and what? and by the way, Al Gore Jr. mentions his White House years in 2-seconds in the movie, didn't mention they eliminated Fed. MPG standards on all cars sold.. and how's that for an 'inconvenient truth'. Even if you BELIEVE the shell-game that auto C02 = the end of the world... and forget that Dinosaurs walk the earth for 100s of millions of years at temps. that were far, far warmer and were REPTILES that didn't adapt to anything colder than what? 50-degrees?)

When in fact, the Dems have done NOTHING since the 1960's and viilified the ONLY Dem that did, in Lyndon B. Johnson to the point where he didn't seek a 2nd term.

They pander. And pander and pander. Gore? JFKerry? The best bet for real change -- was Bill Bradley, really... but the Dems didn't close ranks around him because they thought they have a "better chance" with Gore... and what's Gore said & done about CRIME and inner-city problems/cycles of single moms & kids with grandma's & great-grams as their parents... (you can't MAKE MONEY on that one, eh?)

That's ridiculous! I have buddies that vote for democratic candidates & are FELLOW NRA members!!! It's the liberal branch of the demo's that is pushing for the people/gun control agenda. I mean take Rudy Giuliani for example. Here is a so called conservative republican that is so absolutely rabidly anti second amendment that he makes Hillary Clinton look rabidly pro second amendment!
