Souds like a Testicle Infection (Epididymitis).
You will hear many reasons for someone contracting Epididymitus, some off which you may not accept or like very much, but most are straight forward urinary tract infections in men over 40.
There are many symptoms associated with Epididymitis some of which do not manifest themselves until the infection becomes critical (not life threatening).
What you have described is some of them. If his urine has had a Strong smell associated with it after the first visit to the doctors there is a possibility that the infection has moved down the urethra into the testes which will cause sudden pain in the scrotum, rapid unilateral scrotal enlargement, and marked tenderness of the testes, spermatic cord, and groin are characteristic manifestations also there is a strong possibility of a discolouration of sperm..
Diagnosis of Epididymitis
The diagnosis of acute epididymitis is established on the basis of history and physical findings. Urinalysis and urine culture may help to confirm the diagnosis. Additional tests may include gram-staining of a smear of urethral discharge and a scrotal ultrasound study.
All of this could be a complete and utter waste of information, but more importantly he should return to the doctors. As there are many infections that would need treatment.

Tell him to go to the GP. Aching testicles can be a sign of kidney stones or urinary tract infection. The discolouration can be from traces of blood in the tubes - again this could be from urinary infection or tones. A quick urine test etc will cler this up for him. I hope its nothing xxxx

In fact discoloured semen can be a sign of having to vigorous sexual activities (i.e. too rough). it can come out as browny stained or reddish stained. Also when men age their semen discolours to a yellowish opposed to the whiter colour when they were younger (when I say age I mean the 40 - 50's).
The fact your testicles ache too adds a new dimension and I would recommend a visit to your doctor

sperm is stored in the nut sack, but 95% of the ejaculate volume in stored in the prostate gland, the amount of sperm in one ejaculation cannot even been seen by the naked eye therefore, it is ridiculous to ask this because there is nothing of any size consequence building up men's testicles, or the sack holding the testicles does gets tighter and smaller as he nears orgasm, not bigger and it has to do with blood vessel constriction

Try and persuade him to go to the doctor, it's much better to have the problem diagnosed as early as possible because if it's a progressive illness it will be easier to treat, and it will save you both the anxiety.
Don't wait for it to go away by itself, get it checked out.

sounds like blood, he should get checked again, it might not be his prostate but his testicles may be infected or cancerous.
