Agreed...there was Gorky Park, and the Moscow Music Peace festival in August 1989 that included Ozzy, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and Skid Row among others. Amazingly, a lot of the audience knew the words to the bands' songs, even though the albums weren't officially for sale in the Soviet Union; the black market for American music (Western music; Ozzy is British) was quite popular at the time. Also bridging the East and West in music were The Scorpions from a divided Germany.

The only band that I'm aware of from then from Russia is Gorky Park; I'm sure there were others, but none that I know of that were marketed in the West. They were OK, mediocre hard rock/hair metal of the time. At the very least I learned that "Da" means "Yes" at the tender age of 13 from them...
