I am looking for some books to buy my best friend's baby. She is only 6 weeks, but my friend wants to start reading to her... Any suggestions?

We love Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton. It has a great rhythm to it. Any board books are great because little ones like to rip the pages of other books! We've read three books most every day to our 8 month old. Great gift idea!
Also Brown Bear Brown What do you see?
Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown
Good Night Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann
Owen's Marshmallow Chick by Kevin Henkes
and any of those books with pages that are furry - animal books with texture.
Enjoy!

A must have book and an excellent gift would be the book called "Love you forever" by Robert Munsch. It is as short story about a mother caring for her baby and in the end the last pages comes full circle and the child cares for the mother ( mother is pitcherd as old in end). I'm not big into books, but I recieved it as a shower gift and it is a short sweet beutiful story that every mother must have.

We actually registered on scholastic.com for the beginner dr. Suess books and started reading to him when he was around 2 months. Even at that age he loved looking at the pictures and would sit through an entire book, grabbing at the lively colors. They have a great cheap payment program which makes it very affordable for ppl on a budget.

My all time favorite is "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom." Its an alphabet book and so fun to read. I read it to my oldest daughter and now I'm reading it to my newborn twins.
