First I would like to say that I have not been homeschooled but I have been to 9 schools in my life and 2 highschools. So I have had plenty of going to a new school expeirence and I am fresh out of highschool. I graduated this year.
Did you get lost? Sure, everyone can get lost. It all seems too big and scary. Though you usually find your way around after a week to two weeks.
1. What were the older kids like? Honestly older kids really keep to them self. Don't worry about them much.
2. The whole, boyfriend girlfriend thing, what if I don't want a bf! Will they pick on me for that? How harsh are they? Would it be easy to ignor? They usually don't pick on people for not having a BF. So you don't need to get a boyfriend.
3. How long do you have to get to your next class? Most schools are 5 minutes. If you are new people will understand if you are late. =)
4. Is it just a rumor that girls get pregnant? Girls do at every school but there are not as many as you would think. There are usually 1-4 girls that are pregnant a year.
5. I don't feel like redoing my wardrobe to fit in, will that effect me? Probably not unless your clothes are really underdated. Other than that things should be fine. Ask a few nice girls if your clothes are fine they should tell you.
6. Can I pray at lunch? Well, you can........ but I would advise against. There will be someone that will make fun of you for it. Though if you really want to, try and not make it so obvious that you are praying. God will understand sweetie =)
7. Do kids do nasty stuff like, having sex? Yes but you likely will not see it. About all you will see is people talking about sex especially young boys your age.
8. Did your health class give you birth control, of condoms? No, they never did. They just explain about what sex is and about STD's.
You will do fine you just need some time to get use to it. Make some friends that will keep you comfortable. There are usually people that are grealty willing to talk to new people in highschool. So GOOD LUCK.
If you need someone to talk to further email me through Yahoo Answer mail.

OK, I will try to answer all as best I can. Here goes.
Did you get lost? Yes I did, might have been better had I been able to tour the High School before the school year started, then maybe I could have known the layout.
What were the older kids like? No big deal actually. Although my High School was only 10-12 so the age differance wasnt that much.
The whole, boyfriend girlfriend thing, what if I don't want a bf! Will they pick on me for that? How harsh are they? Would it be easy to ignor? You dont have to have a BF in High School, I never knew anyone who got picked on for it. All kids can be real harsh, and it is easy enough to ignore, but that is more of an indivual feelin.
How long do you have to get to your next class? We had 5 minutes.
Is it just a rumor that girls get pregnant? Some girls do, the ones who dont take the proper steps do. But if you dont want sex then you have no worries.
I don't feel like redoing my wardrobe to fit in, will that effect me? It could, but only if you worry about what the other kids think of you.
Can I pray at lunch? Sure, pray all you want. Just try not to take to heart the ones who will make fun of you. There will always be someone willing to make fun of anyone.
Do kids do nasty stuff like, having sex? Yes they do, just make sure you make it clear you arent like that.
Did your health class give you birth control, of condoms? No, they didnt. All they did was teach us what is right and wrong.

Both my young sisters were home schooled up until 9th and 10th grade and entered "regular" high school fine. They really needed social skills and they turned out terrific.
As far as I go, I was "fast a-- Annie" in Jr. high...my friends were always older so when I got to high school I was well protected and accepted. The only thing I regret is not studying harder and getting more involved in sports, extra curricular activities; these things really help mold you as a person AND allow you to meet all types of people.
Best wishes!

I feel for you my dear.
I went to parochial school all of my life, and went to an all-girls high school, so I didn't experience all of the above but here goes...
Is it a rumor that girls get pregnant? I wouldn't call it a rumor, more like a fact--which leads to your other question are kids having sex--yes, yes, and yes. Everyday, but that doesn't mean you have to if you don't want to.
If you don't want a boyfriend that is your choice, but be prepared for people to speculate on whether or not you "like boys" if you get my drift (especially if any have expressed interest in you and you shoot them all down).
While I went to Catholic school and prayer was everywhere we didn't pray at lunch. I wouldn't do it.
As far as health class--we were taught to be "good catholic girls" and abstaine from sex until marriage, so the only way we were getting condoms is by paying someone we knew from public school to get them for us.
Your wardrobe will change, whether you like it or not. I'm not saying to conform, but you will find that you may want to tweak your own personal style, not because you want to be like everyone else, but because your eyes have been opened on what you could wear instead.
The older kids will pick on you. It is unavoidable. They will trip you and stuff you in lockers. Get used to it.
Hope it goes well!

i went to public school then homeschooled when i got to tenth grade. i do say, that i do like the experience, but i like homeschool alot better.
older kids. theyre the same as the kids your age..they just look tougher bc theyre taller.
if u dont want a boyfriend, u dont have to have one. they wont pick on u for that and if they do, thats their problem, not yours.
how long do u have to get to ur next class...i dont know how it will be in ur school, but in the school i went to. the bell rang so we could get out of class...and then we had like two minutes to get to the other class, and i think the bell rang again to make sure everyone should be in classrooms.
it is not rumor that girls get pregnant at high school.
there were about four girls at least that got pregnant, and that was just in my grade. 9th grade. so theyre might be alot of pregos there.
just be yourself, u dont have to change what u wear. and if the people dont like it, then thats their problem. ur doing stuff that you like and being urself. dont be discouraged by other people.
kids do do nasty stuff....some even do it at school. maybe in a bathroom or gyms. (im not making this stuff up)
but please dont be pressured in doing this kind of stuff nor start doing drugs.
health class....it depends on the teacher who is giving the class or principal. it can either be anti-sex or pro-sex.
pro-sex is where they give u the condoms and stuff.
anti-sex is where they dont give you anything and they tell u NOT to have sex until marriage.
we had anti-sex.
but both sides teaches you about the pregnancy, and sexual disease and stuff.
my first day, i got lost. i didnt know where to go. like i went to first class then second class...and after that i wasnt sure where to go, so i went back to my first class. so its okay if you get lost, just ask a teacher for help if you do. they will give u a paper of what classes you'll be having...so you just have to find your classes.
oh! and yes you can pray at lunch. just do it silent so you wont bother anybody else.
you'll do great, im sure.
just remember to be yourself and dont get pressured in doing something you dont want to do.

Okay, here is my advice. I am answering your questions one by one as you asked them.
First of all, all of your questions will be answered depending on what kind of high school you are entering. If you are entering a typical large high school, then there is a fairly strong possibility you will get lost, but you might not. It will certianly probably be a chaotic situation on the first day, but if you have been given clear, accurate information on where your locker is, what classes you're supposed to go to, etc, then you should be fine. If you're used to being around your loud friends, (assuming you have loud friends), then it may not be all that surreal to you. However, I can assure you that it will certianly be a chaotic atmosphere on the first day.
Based on my personal experience, the older kids wern't that bad. You need to keep in mind that there is an entire grade that is your age, so you're not a fish completely out of water. There are a lot of people who are around your age, even though there are a lot of people who are older. The older kids I was around never bothered me much. However, as always in life there will be certian people who like to cause trouble. You simply need to keep your confidence level up and believe in yourself. If you have low self asteem then the chances of a bully picking on you get stronger because low self-asteem is like blood in the water for them. I never got bullied or bothered, but maybe I was just around a good crowd. Plus, the high school I was at has a pretty good reputation. The reputation for violence and social conflict of the school you're going to attend will also affect how the kids are.
You don't have to have a boyfriend if you don't want one. There's nothing wrong with not having a boyfriend/girlfriend in high school. Chances are people will not pick on you for that, however there may be certian snobby girls or intrusive guys who poke fun at you if they find out you're single. This never happend to me either, but if it happens to you, simply ignore it and move pn. It should be fairly easy to ignore, unless whoever is making fun of you is persistant with their teasing, you might should seek professional help from a teacher or other adult in the school, or attempt to stand up for yourself and tell them to screw off. (just don't put yourself in physical danger)
Classes usually last a long time, or at least they seem to. Typical classes range from 45 minutes to an hour or longer depending on what subject you're in. However, once you get in your 'routine' of going from class to class, jumping from subject to subject should get much easier.
No, it's not just a rumor that girls get pregnant. Many of them actually do, however the majority of the time it is the girl's fault. Most high school girls willingly have sex with their boyfriends without protection and end up getting pregnant. Rarely is anyone ever raped in a decent high school, but it is not impossible. Still, if you find yourself in a very bad situation with somebody who might want to force themself on you, if you're in school then there should be enough people close by who can help you if you need it. In conclusion, no, you will most likely not get pregnant unless you choose to have unprotected sex.
You don't have to redo anything about yourself to fit in. Most schools now have dress codes anyway, so people can't dress to outrageously and make you feel isolated. Be yourself and dress the way you usually do. You will be just fine, and if anybody gives you any crap about your clothing, just ignore them and move on. People who criticize your appearance are actually jealous of you.
Yes, you can pray at lunch, as long as you do it quietly. If you're attending a secular school, then praying is probably not allowed, but you can quietly pray and nobody will know. Just don't make a scene.
No, kids generally don't have sex in school, despite what it looks like on tv and in the movies. However, some do, but the ones who do will never do it in public. So, you really don't have to worry about that.
No, my health class never gave me condoms, or birth control, seeing as I am a man. Your health probably won't either. But if they do, it will be for an educational purpose, I can assure you.
It took me a little while but in the end I figured everything out. I got used to my classmates and everything was fine. You should be the same way. You'll end up making a few friends who will comfort you and help you along the way. You should be just fine.
However, I must say, you sound awfully sheltered to be asking so many questions about public school. Perhaps you should remain home schooled until college? College is much more stress-free as far as dealing with people is concerned. Still, if you want the whole high school experience then I can't object. Most will tell you that you should stay where you are and that public school isn't worth it. My sister is home schooled and went to public high school for one week, then dropped out because she couldn't take it anymore. Just a fair warning.
Best wishes in your journey! =)
