We bought an older computer a couple of years ago for Christmas. We use it to play games on and stuff. It is now running Windows 95. We have a newrer computer we use for the business and internet. We bought XP for it. I want to use our XP and put it on the older pc. But for the life of me I can't find the reg number for it. Is there some place on my newer pc that I can go to that will give me the number? I paid enough for it - i should be able to put it on any of my pc's i want. Thanks in advance.

First, you can't put XP on as many machines as you want. It can only be installed to one pc and one laptop. If you attempt to install it to two pc's it will not register and therefor will stop working in 30 days. Read the EULA (End User License Agreement)

Next, I do not believe that a Win 95 machine will have enough resources to accommodate XP.

Call Microsoft's 1-800 telephone number (link 1), be sure you can access the sticker on the side of your computer case that seys Genuine Windows, Microsoft will want the number.

Highly recommend when talking with Microsoft you write down your new license number.

The newer computer has an SSN number. When installing XP on the older computer, put in the SSN number of the newer one.

If you can't find it, call up Microsoft. They can find you a licence keys.
