Yes, don't forget the incandescent Christmas lights as well as all the additional electrical energy required to power them. Also, add in all the shopping stop and go driving that consumes fuel. Stores are also open longer, increasing resource consumption. Then think of all the paper and packaging used for wrapping that gets used up and then discarded. Trash collection and disposal of packaging and old trees is a huge resource drain. Finally, add in all the store return time and energy used to do that.

There was an article on Yahoo about that earlier. Yes, those trees are cut down, however, those trees were specifically raised for christmas. They are replaced by other trees. The business of christmas trees is resulting in more trees being grown on land that would not normally be dedicated to trees.

A lot of cities have programs to dispose of those trees. They usually end up as mulch which is a very green thing to do with them. They are not being burned in these programs. This results in a lot of carbon dioxide being tied up while the wood is decomposing as opposed to the wood being burned and releasing the carbon dioxide all at once.

This answer shows a undemanding fake impact approximately how those governments who have faith that it is mandatory to shrink the emission of 'greenhouse gases' like carbon dioxide and methane are working. The EEC are asserting that it is as much as persons to settle on in what techniques they like to try this and are utilising pricing mechanisms. the capability enterprise from which you purchase your electrical energy has to apply non polluting sources or purchase carbon offsets from an organization which has them to sell. so which you will effectively pick although if have Christmas lighting fixtures fixtures or use quite much less gas. With gas interior the united kingdom now costing circa $7 a US gallon, are you able to think of the aptitude resentment against those countries which at the instant are not taking any action and in line with others.

I would be far more concerned with the re-gifted fruitcake from your Aunt Billy thrice removed...

But yeah, all the hustle and bustle of Christmas is a definite contributor to carbon dioxide levels. Not so much the trees though (Your cat attacking a bulb and burning down your christmas tree notwithstanding.)

No, the menorah does. All those CANDLES! AA AAH!

Stop spoiling all the holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah with your stupid global warming crap.

I am gasping for AIR, put those trees back before we suffocate!!! Like everyone else said, they are grown specifically for Christmas. Then they are planted again. Its not like we go wandering through the forests and cut down any tree we like. We go to the Christmas tree farms! And if you are still so worried go buy a fake tree! Or does plastic cause global warming too??

No x-mas trees are grown on tree farms, they are renewable. If you switch to LED x-mas lights that is also a step in the right direction. All the plastic packaging that our gifts come in, however is part of the problem. And the travel as well.

And don`t forget the electricity and the heat from all those lights. Why don`t you shut off some of those volcanoes that really contribute to your global warming.
