Gee, a quote from 2003, how timely for an election not including Mr. Kerry and one that is held 5 years later. Some people get really desparate when they have nothing to say regarding current issues.

I can't imagine Kerry saying anything like that... although he did meet with the enemy during Vietnam and didn't he say American soldiers were committing atrocities?

Yeah, I guess I believe it... guy will say whatever he needs to at the time he is asked

And oh yeah, social programs do create dependency

Probably because in a sense they do. Social programs would work very well - if people were socially responsible. But giving away free stuff to the poor doesn't work when the poor are happy to take advantage of it.

You know, I read it twice, and I still see nowhere in that article where Kerry is quoted as saying, "Democrat programs create a culture of dependency."

Could you point it out, please?

I do not know who said it but it is certainly true. Giving out handouts to the needy in the long run creates welfare addicts.
