keeping the dust blown out of the inside prevents excess heat build up. running disk defragmenter
keeps your files organized. running disk cleanup keeps unnecessary files from taking up space on your hard drive.

I find that the use of Windows Disc Clean is one of 3 I use once a week. Spybot's Search and Destroy. Adaware-2007 if you are using a PC.
Macjanitor.. Cache Out X, and Onyx if you are using a Mac.

Uhm I was having overheating problems with my Processor before i found out that there was lots of dust buildup on my heat sink under the fan.
