It is the nervous system, it holds a lifetime of memories good and bad and will react to the most powerful of past stimuli.

Eg; if your happiest memories, forgotten or otherwise, are of sitting on daddies knee, anytime you meet someone who reminds you of your father you will feel warmth and love towards them and vice versa, if your memories are painful and fearful then the opposite will occur.

Feeling is a sensation produced by the neurons when excited by external stimuli whether it be hard or soft, warm or cold , loud or quiet etc that creates a feeling or reaction in which we respond.
