how to remove a transmision filter on a 88 olds?

Raise the car(block safey), use large diameter pan (oil change type), to catch fluid. And its going be messy, as you cna't drain it, you just have to remove it!! Remove the pan and clean, filter is on trasmission, remove&replace. Make sure new gasket is in place, use neww fluid! good luck

This seems crazy, but you have to take the transmission pan off while it's still full. That's where the filter is.

So let the car cool down completely before you do this.
