Just asking because I am the mom of one and I want to know if she's going to run into trouble at school for being bilingual and how can I better help her through it, adapt. Of course I'd like for her to keep both her languages. Thanks!

I am a bilingual first grade teacher, my kids are chatty but so are everyone elses. There is really no difference, as long as your child understands both languages. There's a problem when student's only know their native language and teacher's can't communicate with them....I think it's great that your child knows two languages!!! don't worry!

No more than monolingual kids.

I taught English as a second language for years and found that kids are kids regardless of their multi-language skills. Young people develop at pretty much the same rate across national and racial lines. Someone does not become a trouble maker just because he/she is smart enough to learn more than one language. Look at people in Europe who routinely speak two or more languages. They do not become serial killers simply because they speak more than one language.

I have not found this to be true. I have a couple in my class, they pretty much only speak English at school.

No. Disruptiveness has nothing to do with language, and everything to do with attitude.
