i asked a previous question on here concerning Trading back games, and the answers i received said, in short, 'you bought it, why cant you trade it back when your bored' This brings in the question 'Used games'?
Why would you buy used games, I know its cheaper and all, but its used! I always buy new games, no matter what, used games to me seem 'tainted' and 'dirty'(i know im talking about a video game, but it still seems weird)
What are your opinions on this question?

I do not like buying a game that someone else previously owned, I have no idea what they have done to it, they could have put the launch code to a nuclear missle for all I know, I realise I must be sounding quite paranoid

used games are cheaper, and are not "tainted".. if they are a bit dirty (which usually they're not, cause the store (ie blockbuster, game stop etc.. usually cleans them 1st), then at worst, you can wipe them down with windex, let dry, and you'll be good.. WHY WOULDN'T you buy used games? In most cases, they're 1/2 price, and they're almost always well taken care of and maintained... Buying new games is for chumps, unless you really WANT it, and it's so new no one has sold it back yet.

I don't unerstand how being used can "taint" a game. Unless you are a collector, and you want unopened packages still in the original plastic, there is no difference in a game from the factory and a game second-hand. Of course, you have to check for damage, it's always possible a disc got scratched or something. But any trade-in store pre-screens for such things, so even that disapears as an issue.
I buy used for two reasons, price and risk. A new game is $50 or more, and it might suck out loud. You have no way of knowing for sure how good the game is, because ordinary peopel haven't played it yet. I have seen used games for as low as $1, and I can go online and see exactly what other gamers thought of it. If new games were reasonable, I'd buy them. I bought Katamari Damacy new, because it was $15. At that price, if I have fun for five minutes, I got my money's worth.

Why pay an amount twice as big for a game I'll only play for about 10 hours before throwing it away in the closet for another replay (which might never come) instead of buying it used? I can spend the money I saved that way on something else. I avoid getting used games that are in bad condition though and I do buy new games when I know even used copies of the game will be rare.

To me used games are the way of finding something better for your money. Yes if the used game is 5 bucks cheaper than the new, ill buy the new. Theres nothing better than ripping open a brand new game.
But in the case of running short of money and you really want that new guitar hero game that game out months ago. 19.99 is not a bad deal at all.
There is also another option though. You can buy older new games on amazon or on ebay. Unless you just like the instore people to people interaction.

I buy used games a lot, just because it's cheaper. Used game shops will let you look at the disc to make sure it isn't scratched, and have a short warranty in case there was damage to the disc you didn't notice when you purchased it. I am on a tight budget, and often purchasing used games is the only way I could afford to buy them. I certainly don't feel that they are "tainted" or "dirty".
Certain game franchises I will only buy new, because I want to buy them the day they are released, like Final Fantasy and God of War.

I think buying used games is a good idea especially for the people that cant afford brand new games. And also buying used games lets you explore games that you have played liked but also at the same time did not like but you still wanted the game.
So instead of paying the full price, you get the game that you sort of like for a reasonable price.
I may self buy used games sometimes just because i think its a good deal. I mean I also prefer to buy new games, but if I could get a good game at a good price im going to buy it used.

I don't get the point in buying used games weither. chances are parts of the games are missing. I say when it comes to games, buy new.
