whats life like...much the same as up North in a small town...except there's no snow.....get up in the morning; if the power didn't fail overnight you're on time; if it did you're late but so is everyone else; pick the wrong time of day and youre in traffic jams just like up North; go to the market, the movie theater, go home, make dinner watch tv; n the weekend go sailing or swimming or play tennis;

each island is a small town of 50,000; St John is a village of about 3,500; unlike a small town up north there's no bigger town or city to drive to if you want a change or other options in what to buy or do........and lie a small town we are set in our ways and a little leery of outsiders.

two sayings: " nothing ever changes but the date"

"we don't care what you do as long as we know all about it".

Health care is fair to good; electricity all comes from oil generation and in December just went up 22% to 35 cents a kWh, which is about THREE TIMES what you pay in the States, so get used to a $200-$500 a month bill, depending on how high you set the A/C; I run a very nice but not top of the scale condo project where 1 Br apts go for 1500 and a two for 2900 a month, so rents are WAY expensive if you want something nice and / or safe...

this place is not for everyone; about 1/3 of folks who move here stay less than 6 months; everyone else a few decades!
