I agree that she has the right to endorse whoever she likes.
And in contrast to what Ben C says, celebrities have the right to put their wealth and notoriety wherever they see fit. How is it any different from a candidate who is no longer in the running to endorse one who is? It is merely a suggestion, no one is leading you by the hand to the polls, you choose who you like.

People look for any minutie itty bitty excuse to shove hatred on or discredit a candidate and his/her supporters. Ms. Winfrey is certainly as able to support whomever whe wants. No one is complaining about Chuck Norris' support for a Republican candidate. Just because Senator Obama and Ms. Winfrey are both black doesn't necessarily mean anything and so what if it does. She has the right to support anyone she wants. As a billionaire I would think she should have the same right to support anyone as any other billionaire. If Mr. Norris wants to speak on behalf of his candidate so be it. He can afford the private jets and may have the time just as she does. Some how even if Oprah supported a white anglosaxon protestant male there would have been eyebrows raised and questions asked. It comes with celebrity. The problem we have in this country is we have too many people who are interested in other people's business instead of their own.

The only ones complaining are those who wanted Oprah to pick THEIR candidate! She is one of the most influential people in the world and would bring a boost to any campaign. If she had thought a woman was the best candidate and supported her they would be saying she is a feminist or sexist. If she had picked a white man she would be called by some an uncle. She isn't trying to please anyone, she is expressing her opinion just as all of us have the right to do.

You know, I have one concern... why is it when Oprah had a chance to build an amazing school it was one in Africa for black girls? She was asked why she built one there instead of in America and she said in Newsweek
“I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools that I just stopped going. The sense that you need to learn just isn’t there,” she says. “If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers. In South Africa, they don’t ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school.”
This statement has irritated me from so many levels. There are plenty of Children in America that would love a quality education and wouldn't need a 40 million dollar school to do it in.
Why did she build this school for African girls that happen to be black? Why is she endorsing the first presidential candidate in her life to the point of traveling with him to several states? Because he is black as well. Sorry, it just seems obvious with the way she has been supporting things lately that she is more pro black then she is pro American.
She did get her education in an American school right?
I'm just saying......

You're right. She has the right to endorse the candidate of her choice, for the reasons of her choice. Ms. Winfrey's endorsement of Obama means nothing to me. I wouldn't vote for Obama under any circumstances. However, I don't think less of Oprah for voicing her political opinion in this way. But then, it would be hard for me to think less of her.

Yes she would as would be called a sexist, as would any woman voting for Hillary.
Republican men can't quite get it through their heads that they haven't done a darn thing for women and minorities and that they left that whole section of the vote for others.
Now that they are also hurting with the Hispanic vote that they took for granted, they use name calling and intimidation to influence people into voting for people who haven't shown them the least interest before.

I've been asking that all along. I have come to the conclusion that since he is breaking away from Hillary in the polls, they have to be Hillary supporters who are worried.
