Is this x^(4/5) or (x^4) / 5 ?
Question has to be clarified.

Attempt 1
x^(4/5) = 16
x = 16^(5/4)
x = 2^5
x = 32

Attempt 2
(x^4) / 5 = 16
x^4 = 80
x = 80^(1/4)
x = (5 x 16)^(1/4)
x = 2 ( 5^(1/4) )

Take both sides to the 5/4 power:

x^4/5(5/4) = 16^(5/4)

x = 2^5 = 32

That's it!

16^(5/4) is the 4th root of 16 which is 2, then to the 5th power.

:)

The way this is written, the question should be
(Remember "PMDAS"?)

(x^4) / 5 = 16 (parenthesis added for clarity only)
x^4 = 16 * 5 = 80
(x^4)^(1/4) = (80)^(1/4)
x = 2.99069756

x^4/5=16
take log on both sides
log (x)^4/5=log16
4/5logx=log16
logx=5/4log16
log x=5/4*(1.2041)
log x =1.505125

take antilog & u'll get the answer for x
