Good morning and Happy Monday, R&P!

As I rushed into work this morning I was flipping through the stations and I caught a few minutes of a local radio show here. Since no one can play music in the morning I was listening to these two guys banter back and forth, and one of them said that "only short girls go to Rock concerts".

Huh? What does that mean?

So I was hoping the ladies of R&P could help me out with this little survey - could you please let me know how tall you are, and if you've ever attended a rock concert? And guys, feel free to answer if you want...I certainly don't want to leave you out.

I know "short" is subjective, and it's really not a term I use. And for clarification purposes, "Rock" will be every genre under the huge general Rock umbrella - Hard Rock, Metal and its 50 million cousins, anything ending in "-core", etc.

Me: I'm 5' 8.5" (about 174 cm), and I have attended many shows.

Thanks, in advance, for your help! :)

Rckets - as someone who almost got into radio I try not to be TOO critical, but this was just asinine!

BC & Sour Girl - good morning! Yeah, I think you always get the taller people in front of you, no matter what - I always end up with a 6' 3" guy in front of me. :)

Good morning to you too!!

I am 5'3 (short by any standards) and yes, I have been to concerts, BUT as a short person, I know there are tall girls there too because they tend to stand in front of me. :)

I think I'm about 5'10" or a little under... And I go to as many shows as I can.. Usually a few every year. I usually see quite a few short gals at shows, and they always try to pull this crap where they ask if they can get in front of you cause they are so short. I wouldn't say that short girls make up a very large percentage of the shows I've been to though... I don't know what those guys were talking about. I have heard people say that only fat chicks go to metal shows, which is also complete crap.

Hey Sookie...What up!

I've been to more shows that I can count. I can honestly say that it depends on who is playing. For instance, I'm fairly certain that if you go to a Panic! At The Disco show, the audience will be considerably short because none of them are over the age of 15. lol.
But really, that's pretty lame. In all the shows I've attended, there has been someone who was very tall, and someone who was very short. If anything, the band would determine the height of the audience, not the venue. I bet a lot of short people watched Skee-Lo live because they could relate to the song "I Wish."

I really believe that quote is just a case of some morning jock trying to come up some outrageous humor. I really believe he wanted someone to call in, bend his ear long enough so the "Zoo" could get to the next commercial break. The things people do for a $14,000 a year job in radio!!!!! You know full well all kinds of women go to concerts...that guy just sounds like a total dope...He'll probably be working the over night shift at the convenient store by the next ratings sweep.

That could quite simply be one of the stupidest thing ever said by a person that actually gets paid to be on the radio. I always love when people make absurd claims without scientific proof. Now, had I heard the same thing, the first thing I would have wondered would be if the speaker was using the word short in a different slang sort of context to mean something other than height. I know street lingo refers to chicks as shorties without regard to stature. Assuming it didn't, I can vividly recall people of all ages, sexes, weights, heights, and piercings at all the shows I've been to. I wish I could get paid large jack to say idiotic things, that would rule!

steven25t - Tell me something I don't know. However, there remains a large difference in idiotic funny and idiotic inaccurate stereotypes.

Good Monday Morning !

I'm 5'7", have attended several concerts and shows, and going strong. What study did they grab this from? That has got to be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Tsk, tsk. How do they allow morons like these a slot on the airwaves each morning?

Happy Monday Sookie.

My wife is 5'2 and has been to a lot of shows in her day, but in my experience that theory is totally bogus. I've been to a lot of shows and I've seen a lot of tall girls at them. For instance, my wife's really good friend is probably 5'10-5'11 or so and she goes to a lot of shows too, and depending on where the definition of tall starts another really good friend of her's is about 5'7 or 8 and she loves going to shows so much that she is trying to make a career out of it as a live performance photographer.

ok i may not be a girl but i think i can offer an explination for it. I think what they were refering to was the ammount of youth at concerts. Rock is kinda becoming just a general term for music cause you look at the major range between bands like Fall Out Boy (which is considerd rock lol) and lets just say Ozzy. I just think they were trying to say that short girls (who tend to be younger) go to concerts like that. Im not sure but im just guessing lol

Well...I'm 6'3' and I always seem to have someone taller than me in front of me too. As far as your question goes, I think your morning radio guys are running out of material. I've been to a lot of rock shows, and seen girls of all shapes and sizes in attendance.

Good Morning - Unless the idiot was referring to the Hannah Montana show, he was completely wrong. I have seen many tall women at concerts and have been blocked on more than one occassion and I am almost 6 foot.
