my nephew recently went to the air force. my sister and i were rised by hippies, love love love. how he came to this i do not know.
BUT I STILL LOVE AND SUPPORT HIM.
my son???
if he signs the line i will STILL LOVE AND SUPPORT HIM
but i will cry and cry and rip my heart out. BECAUSE my country will do to him what i have seen done to all whom have served it.
take away feeling. take away humanity. take away personal choice. make them into pawns. one sided. black or white.

As long as their country is the United States of America it would be a great and proud service. The US serves all mankind by fighting the evil in this world and bringing freedom to the oppressed.

I would make him talk to people currently serving the country, veterans, and families who lost their loved ones at the war. I would talk to him about my view on the matter and explain myself. I would want to hear him tell me all the consequences and all that was involved in his decision. If I after that he still wanted to do it... I guess all I could do was pray for him.

This is assuming that one has to be over 18 to enlist. If he was under 18, I would do all the above and in the end tell him he is not doing it!

I would have to respect their decision. However, my husband and I plan to raise our children in Morocco, so it really won't be an issue.

I would be proud of them, ask if that is what they really want to do and support their decision and worry for their safety.
