Everything.

Unity - is the overall effect of the artwork as a single entity

Emphasis / Focal Point - is the part of the work that the eye is naturally drawn to

Scale / Proportion - pretty self-evident I would have thought, all to do with the size of the work

Balance - e.g. do the colours complement?

Rhythm - an art work could be music (obvious) or it could be literature (which also has rhythm - esp. poetry)

Colour Theory - yes there are many aspects

Illusion of Space - (look up "Trompe L'oeil)

Illusion of Motion - can be a visual effect, or think about how artists create a sense of movement by the way they pose figures.

The thing about art, is that it's about interpretation. You might not understand something, but the next person might. Just because one person sees one thing is a piece of art (painting, sculpture etc), another person might look at it and see something completely different.

Unless of course, the art work is bleedin' obvious. I mean, a pot plant is a pot plant no matter who is looking at it lol
