Usually the amount of noise from the intake is a function of the duct system. A properly designed system will be quiet. If yours is not, it can be minimized by keeping a clean filter in the system. Also, the blower speed may be adjusted to minimize it but must be careful to ensure proper air flow for the heater. The last resort is to replace the return duct system. Wow! i'm going to be getting my canine quickly and the block off area of the homestead she'll be staying in does have a vent. good now we are canine proofing the gap so i'm going to make advantageous that blockading the vents or removing her collar is on the checklist! thank you lots. All those little ifs and buts look impossible until they happen!

Install a larger return grille. You are probably getting harmonics through the grille.

does it sound like a motor? if you have good air flow just make sure you change your filter every MONTH summer or winter every 60 90 days restricts the perfomance of your heater & runs your electric bill up & could burn out your blower motor

there should be a filter on the vent. remove it to see if it quits. filters should be replaced at least every three months.
