If you believe the Adam and Eve tale, then do you accept that their offspring must logically have committed incest either between themselves or even with their parents?

What about:

The original writer may not have had a word for metaphorical in her language (most likely Aramaic) but in my view, she meant the Adam an Eve ( actual names used not known to me) story to be metaphorical. Same with the building of the earth, plants and animals (man).

That modern believers try, unsuccessfully, to add information to the creation story in an attempt to make it less simplistic, is, to me at least, usually a source of humor.

These unauthorized, modern redactors have come up with some crazy ideas such as, "a day is as a thousand years" like a thousand years is something more than the batting of an eye in cosmology.

How about the modern claim that god didn't just build an entire planet in 6 days, he built a Universe or god is omnipotent yet she can't do anything about infant death syndrome or cancer.

The story plainly states that while his Mom and Pop were literally the first two humans on the planet, Cain, after committing the first premeditated murder in human history, supposedly went a short distance to the thriving metropolis of Nod and took a wife from a family with more than one daughter.

Incest, therefore, is the least of problems for true believers even though it does involve sex which appears to be an overwhelming obsession with christians. I suggest the pressing question is...

where the He$$ did "Nod" come from??

Maybe that's just me.

Odd how the religious right glosses this one over. :) But here's the grain of truth in the Adam and Eve story, oddly enough proven by science. On the mitochondrial DNA level, we are all descended from one woman, who came out of Africa. There is evidence that there were originally other lines, but they died out, and only the one survives.

I watched a fascinating show on this. Mitochondrial Eve had several daughters, who had more daughters, and they gradually migrated across the land mass of the time - into Australia and back up into South and North America. Since there were several men in the group with original Eve, we had enough genetic variability to become a race.

Poor Adam. He's just not as special as they'd like us to believe. :)

Great question and a lot of good answers. This subject just helps re-enforce my belief that the bible and "ONE" god just cannot be true. Where did Adam & Eve's sons's wives come from, there is NO mention of them. There are also SO many other contradictions in the bible and the timeline of when the "stories" were written makes it even less believable.

mutually as Adam had intercourse with Eve, grew to grow to be that incest too? I advise Eve grew to grow to be made out of Adam's rib which will advise that she grew to grow to be a girl clone of him, which will make her the equivalent of his twin sister. that ought to make sparkling the evil nature of Cain, he grew to grow to be the synthetic from brother sister incest. Incest additionally exists interior the story of Lot and his daughters. they're on my own interior the barren section and the daughters strengthen to an age the situation they want husbands yet there are none accessible so what to do? Mummy's now no longer around to furnish suggestion as she grew to grow to be grew to grow to be perfect right into a pillar of salt, so as that they get daddy under the impact of alcohol and characteristic activates diverse nights having intercourse with him. i'm rather confident they weren't married the two.

I don`t believe any of it, so i hope you don`t mind me answering anyway. As i think you infer, it is only a tale, written by people who thought the Earth was flat and who had no scientific knowledge about how living things could have come to be on this Earth.
Frankly, i don`t know how the millions who believe what is written in the Bible is true, do not curl up with embarrassment at these stories!
The power of religion is so great because people are told to believe this nonsense from being babies, from the adults around them. For instance, they are told from being little children that God is watching what they do and if they dare to not believe or misbehave that they will be punished. Brainwashing is another word for it.

Oh come on you lot, do you really think that they were the only two on earth, if you think this then most of the world must be living a life of incest.

Yes you do. I asked someone on here where did Cain's wife come from. He said "Adam and Eve". But I don't think this was ment to be tale indicating that incest is right. Though, it is kind of funny that God FORCED incest upon them.

If a person believes the bible then incest was what happened. However I find that this is very hard to conceive.

Adam was the first race of man and that race was our first beginnings

God (referred to as YHWH) creates Adam from the dust of the earth and breathes life into him. Later, he makes Eve from Adam's rib.
They have children, Cain, Abel, Seth, and others, who then populate the world.

Incest?
