yes you are, however its a very weird law. you can only shoot someone if they are running towards you. there was someone I heard about who got arrested because he shot at a guy running up the stairs for him, however when he got shot, he was running away from him.

I hold four concealed carry licenses, but I would not intervene unless I or a family member was in danger.

They're licenses, not badges. If you make a bad call, you risk being sued for everything you own and going to jail. Unlike a police officer, you don't have a city government to pay settlements for you.

As a VERY general rule, you may defend another who is privileged to use self-defense, using the same level of force they'd be privileged to use.

If some damsel in distress is being threatened at gunpoint, you could use legally use deadly force against the attacker.

Of course, you aren't sure of the situation. The guy with the gun could be a plainclothes cop, and the damsel in distress may be bad guy. You just don't KNOW.

I always keep in mind that my carry permit is simply that...a license to carry. I don't have a license to shoot, so I'm on very shaky ground if I take my weapon in hand.

When you take the training required to get a carry permit, you are supposed to get trained on this. The answer is yes, you can shoot them. There are some caveats that go along with that though. You could possibly run afoul if the person doing the shooting happens to be an undercover cop who is engaged with bad guys in the performance of his duties, in which chase you could quite likely run afoul of the law. You could also be shooting someone else who is a legally permitted individual who happens to be shooting someone else who is a threat.

The moral is that unless you are 100% sure of the circumstances, shooting someone who is not posing an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm to you is a tough choice to make.

You'll be considered a hero if you did. But you should make sure that you have very accurate aim and not hit someone you didn't mean to hit. Sorry shoot.

Yes, two of the defenses allowed for murder are defense of self or defense of another person or persons.

NO! This is why people should NOT be allowed to carry a concealed weapon... They feel it empowers them. What do you think that does? make you judge and jury in your split second decision to take another life without having all the facts? If you are feeling this way I suggest you put away that gun and NEVER carry it, you are missing the point of carrying guns.

Lets take it one step farther.. suppose you do shoot this person... does that give some other person with a gun watching YOU shoot, the right to shoot you as you just shot another person?
