In which situation Malaysia univ scores can transfer to Australia univ? I want to go to Australia to study but I don't want to start from beginning. Someone met this situation before? Thanks.

G'day,

Hush pretty much covered the general ideas, although her answers are not completely right.

For a start, if you have already started your study at Malaysian university, it depends on which university that you study in, as not all Malaysian universities are fully accredited by LAN. If you go to the fully accredited one, then the transfer is slightly easier. Just make sure that you bring your academic transcript and course syllabus when applying to the uni so they can match the units that you have done with their units. So credit transfer does not always applicable for diploma studies only, but also for university studies as well.

If you haven't studied in Malaysian unis and already made up your mind abt studying in Australia, then enrol in one of the twinning programs in Malaysia is not a bad idea. However depending on the level of your current education now (say finished STPM or A-Level), then you can come straight away to first year uni.

If there are any Australian education exhibitions close by to where you live, just come and bring your trancript with you and speak with the uni representatives to get a feeling abt the uni itself. Some even bring their Malaysian alumni with them so you can also talk to them.

Hope this helps. E-mail me at mikegun(at)studentfirst.com.au if you have more questions abt study in Australia. Good luck on your study and welcome to Australia :)

i am not aware of any malaysian "UNIVERSITY" transfer to australian universities. if you havent started uni, then you could try checking out the "twinning programs" at some of the colleges. alot of them offer twinning programs which allow you to do half or more of your course in malaysia, and finishing it off at an overseas university. for example, if the twinning is 2+2 Bachelor of pharmacy from University of South Australia, Australia, offered by HELP institute, it means that you will be doing the first two years of your studies in HELP, and finishing the remaining two at Uni of South Australia. Does that make sense.

As for which Australian universities to go, alot depend on what courses you want to pursue and vice versa. there are heaps of them offered by the private colleges. my advice is, research your preffered course then check with colleges which australian universities are they associated with.

oh there is another system called "credit transfer" which works almost the same way, but slightly different. it means that by the end of your studies in malaysia, you are likely to be awarded a diploma or equivalent, and you would also have a choice of which selected university to go. this is different from twinning as twinning programs are considered "offered" by the australian university, not malaysian college, hence you know upfront which university will issue you with the degree.

hope that helps :)
