"Could you send 2 or 3 lines about yourself that we would say before your reading on the evening of February ___?"

I'm reading my poem that won the poetry contest, and I'm not sure how these evenings go (I've never been to one). What would be appropriate to say about myself (someone else is intoducing me)?

Thanks in advance.

something about your writing experience. your style of writing. if you studied somewhere. where you are from.

it doesn't have to be too personal. just small info about what brought you there.

good luck!

Congratulations. They just want a few simple pieces of information that will help them tell the audience who this winning poet is. What town do you live in? Where do you go to school? How old are you? What year in school are you in? That sort of thing.

You could also add any information that's especially relevant to your winning poem. For example, if the poem is about swimming, you might mention that you work as a lifeguard. If the poem is about a dog, you might mention that you volunteer at an animal shelter. And so on.

How long you've been a poet
How old you were when you first became interested in poetry
What inspires you to write
If you've been published (even if only in school paper), how many times, over how many years
