Camellia is one of my favorite flowering shrubs but, alas, I can not grow them where I currently live. They are a shrub that is slow to establish and slow to grow. They need part sun to part shade. Full sun will burn the foliage, especially when young. Plant them where protected from direct, full sun such as the north side of your home or under mature pines. They may reach 20' high, but seldom do. Typical heights are more likely 6-12'. Mature width is typically 6-12', but remember that these shrubs are slow growers. It will take many, many years to approach anything close to a 12' width. You are best to plan on a much smaller horizontal spacing when first establishing these shrubs.
