my seagate 80 gb hdd which has imp data got damaged. To be precise smoke came out from it.i suspect this was bcoz of wrongly connected power cable what are my chances of getting back data?? getting back HDD in working condition??
how much would it cost to get back my data ?? where should i look for? seagate ?? how much do these guyes charge? or any other options help mei am desperate.

hi friend. i have got on e software Get Data Back it returns my 90% data from my previous 80GB SATA HDD. but you told that you see smoke from it. this is not impossible to get back data from harddisk but it cost around 500$ here in nepal. I heard it from my vendor..He told that he could send it to another place and they will physically cut ther layer above its written and get ur data return Back. good luck!!! did it Detect in your Mother Board???

Data recovery companies charge ALOT. They take the platters out of the drive in a clean room and mount them and recover the data that way. For a personal computer it is cost prohibitive. I would look on EBAY or other auctions and try to find that drive and then swap the parts to the bad drive and try that.
