Well, there are many problems with the polar bear as of late that give this creature difficulties in the wild. Most are tied to the changing climate in the artic circle.

Being a predetor, the bear must hunt its food.

Temperatures have been increasing in the artic regions for a while now which has changed the layout of the ice in the area. The increased temperature has changed where the bear's prey decides to nest, making it more difficult for the bear to find food. There have been reports of polar bears, an aquadic animal in many respects, drowning in attempts to find food. There have also been reports of polar bears turning to cannibalism just so that they can survive.

It's a very sad state of affairs for the bear. Hopefully things will turn around for it in the future.

Because of the rising temperature of the Earth's atmosphere, the sea ice in the artic is gradually disappearing. Polar Bears depend on sea ice for feeding (hunting seals), Polar bears aren't very adapted to feeding on land. Although the sea ice will be readily available in the winter season, its the summer that will cause the trouble. The sea ice is appearing later in the season and disappearing sooner which gives the bears limited time to fatten up. With this said its been predicted Polar Bears may go extinct within our or our kids lifetime.

what i know is that other than the cannibalism, because of global warming, the polar caps are starting to melt so their natural habitat is slowly getting smaller... now as that happens some have to find bigger ice caps(im not sure if thats what you call it) and some drown. i just saw a clip once that a polar bear drowned when it was trying to find a bigger ice cap.

The ice they use to access their food is diminishing in area, so can support fewer polar bears

They eat seals. On the Ice.

Now ice is going away from global warming, so less food.

Because there are getting less and less of them. Also they are becoming scavengers in dumps as civilization moves in. Their natural habitat is changing.
