Temporarily..... Most adhesive require some porosity on the surfaces that you apply it to. Check your product, read the label or consult with the supplier. There are primers you can apply to metal so adhesives stick. There are also special adhesives that will stick to both the tile and the metal.

The glue on the back of flexible tile takes a long time to dry, thus it remains sticky on most porous surfaces. However, in my experience almost nothing sticks to galvanized metal due to the process to galvanize it and the subsequent oil its surface contains. The problem isn't the glue, it is the fact that metal is almost always nonporous and there isn't much to stick to. Too warm, and your glue allows your vinyl to slide. Too cold, and it just does not stick well.
I would attempt the primer route first, maybe Zinsser (sp) or Kilz 2, but remember they won't stick well either, unless you are trying to adhere to pipe type metal, the raw surface kind that is neither polished nor galvanized.
Would not give it too much long term hope.

What you need to do is scuff the surface of the metal to create a bonding key, then coat with a flexible tanking compound such as Sythaprufe (this is elastomeric and will move with the felxible grout). Allow to dry for 24 hours and Bobs your mothers brother.

But what do I know (I tried to stop it dripping but it would'nt)

Both 1 & 2 offer valid notions. Peggy describes to you the WHY/Why not. I'd give her the 10; no offense.

Not very well - use Liquid Nails or Hard As Nails - that sticks to most things.
