It just a silly saying that has been around for years. Its supposed to be funny.

You are right. You can't stop yourself from thinking. It is necessary and helpful most of the time. That's why we have a smarter brain than other species--so we can "use our head."

It is not thinking that is dangerous. It is behavior that can be dangerous. But we can have thoughts that lead to dangerous behavior. E.g., if someone thinks about robbing a bank, and then does it, that's dangerous. It could end up with the person being shot or spending years in prison.

But in reality, it was the behavior, not the thought, that was dangerous.

What are you thinking about, that is the question.

Thoughts of suicide, murder, cutting, doing drugs, can often lead to rationalizing the good and bad. The more you think or dwell on a subject, the more you can convince yourself it is "OK" to do. That is what is dangerous. Certain thoughts, even though we all have them, shouldn't be thought out to much.

Thinking is the beginning of the process "doing" that's why thinking can be dangerous if it's done by dangerous minds.

Thinking in itself is not dangerous. We all do it, just try not to! You are going to have a lot of really bizarre thoughts as you grow up. It's okay.

You must think, in order to live, but you can over think, which causes problems. Some people will talk themselves into doing things, that normally they would never do. People worry to much about what someone else will think of them, so change their mind, and then rethink, and it goes on, and on, and on.

They are merely referring to thinking too much on something where the answer is probably rather simplistic. Second guessing and doubt creep in when you think too much about something and do not tend to offer a better solution than your basic instinct.
