Stop fighting it. You obviously are trying to tell yourself something. The more you push against it the longer it will be this way. The need for sleep is different for everybody. Some people are fine with 3 hours, some need 8. And as you have noticed, being grumpy and jealous doesn't change the situation. It only makes you feel worse. So first try changing your thoughts about it. Maybe you don't need so much sleep and second when you wake up, think about how nice you slept those few hours and that you are relaxed and in a little while you can sleep another few hours. Most important, be easy on yourself. Go little step by little step.

Hi Demi, I think you already have some pretty darn good answers to your inability to fall asleep. The one suggestion I have found most useful for myself involves calming myself with breathing slowly and regularly, meditating, and/or taking Valerian and/or Melatonin to help me fall asleep. Do not take Melatonin if you are taking anti-depressants. They're not a wise mix. If you are taking any medicine, I suggest that you ask your doctor or other health care provider if it is okay for you to take an over-the-counter sleep-aid whether pharmaceutical or herbal. Your health care provider could even recommend the best treatment for you if you do have insomnia. In the meantime, have a nice cup of chamomile tea, and stay away from caffeine after 3 p.m. and don't smoke at all, but if you do, don't smoke when you can't sleep; you'll be sure not to fall asleep any time soon if you light up in the middle of the night. A fan works me. I turn away from me, and the steady sound of the wind helps me fall into the land of restful sleep. Good night dear Demi, and may flights of angels sing thee to sleep in the evening and sing thee to awaken in the morning.

I will prescribe something to you that is so simple and works like magic. If this fails, which I am 99% sure will not fail, then see your doctor.

After taking your last meal of the day, take a half medium onion and chop it into small pieces, cut out a half medium tomato into small cubes spread a spoon of virgin olive oil and sprinkle just a bit of salt so that you can stand the taste and eat it immediately. No matter how hot you may find the onion, do not steam it. Let me know how you do tonight. God bless you.

try breathing exercise. here is my suggestions lay on bed straight on the back, close your eyes and start to scan thru your body from head to toe by using breathing in and out. In this way you will feel very relax, maybe 1st time you might not get it but practise makes perfect. donot move when you do this exercise.

When you are relax and your mind is peaceful, tell yourself to go to sleep, slowing and quietly. By now you should be able to dose off without you realising it.

Keep trying , you might get it one day, good luck!
