I have been reading a few questions and looking at some of the answers on different countries Q&A and noticed a lot of countries hating on america or americans. I have done my share of traveling the world so I'm not bashing anyone's country, but I do wonder if people realized what they say. People say they don't like the American culture but are first in line at a concert, movie,or etc. They seem to not appreciate American history when in fact there wouldn't be electricity, air condition,heating,etc..if it wasn't for an American. And clearly if America pulled everything that had it's name on from every country(third world or not) a lot of people would lose jobs and be bored as hell. Even if you're not a fan of our country EVERYBODY does, listens, watch,or read something about someone or something that is American. So I really wish people would be more considerate and kind. Especially the Brits cause you're suppose to be our brother country.

I'm not bashing anyone's country. I'm just making an observation. I have traveled the world and found something great everywhere I've been. But it seems like people are very negative towards the US. Which can be understood with the whole war thing. But there's more to life then being mad at Bush. His term will be over soon anyway, and we can't change the past. United we stand, divided we fall, we all have to come together not hate each other. When you hate on people, that means their doing something right! So I guess that means we Americans need to keep doing our thing .

For instance, I have a friend in Australia who says she hates American people and doesn't like our culture. But she's always the first in line for a ticket to see Beyonce or Justin Timberlake or etc. Pics of Marilyn Monroe on her walls. Those people mold American culture. I told her you have a bad way of showing you don't like us.So,if you're like my friends in OZ this question is for you.If you look at all the haters answers, I was right...If you got haters that means you're doing something right.Cause people don't talk about you if you ain't doing nothing. We definitly don't copy anybody.IF we get an idea from some other country it's gonna be 100 times hotter anyway. Like Pop Idol was from Britina, but look at American Idol and the artist that came from the show. I ain't heard nothing hot from no pop idol. Or that show Couplings the UK has, we got the idea to make Friends, which shows hotter? Not to copy ,but to entertain in the American way. We always do it big and people hate it.

If Britian is America's father country you sure taking an** whippen from your kid. We are surperior to you in like mostly all entertainment and etc. But the the dollar sucks compared to Euros. And cars from Italy are cool. And I do wear Burberry. But I drive a Chevy. By the way, it's not bulling when you are the
s%$# to begin with. Bullies bully to get what they want cause they don't have nothing,we use what we have to get what we want.

I have traveled the world, and I have met rich people from everywhere, I just think America is a very nice place people tend to hate on. Out of all the places I have been no one is as kind and nice to me like the people here at home (the south). Just walk a mile in our shoes before you judge us. If you was American you'd be the same way to. We all just come from different cultures no countries a like. And even though America is in debt, we do a lot for other countries as well. we spend money giving to poor countries instead of paying our debts. And the only reason there's dealings with China from any country is cause they'll do the work for less money than someone from the US, Britian, or another surperior country.

I may be wrong about the whole heating thing but American history is far more interesting than that British history. That didn't get exciting til America got it's independence. We did infact invent AC. You may want to tap into your Afro-American history too. Black people make America mostly what it is.,but that's another subject.

I know people who have lost loved ones in Iraq and I myself have family at war. But we can't change what has been done,we can only look to the future. I'm not trying to sugar coat anything, I'm just being real.

Like I said, I'm not bashing anyone. Britian has done a lot in the world's HISTORY but I'm talking about now.Britian is America's HISTORY, but that stopped when we made our own. I wasn't talking about slavery I was talking about our culture. Either way we still rock in entertaining. When we do fall, it will be by the hands of God no man can break America.

When people "hate" an entire group I think of it as a proclamation of their own ignorance or insecurity...to actually "hate" people you've never met is really a microcosm of the world problems. This "hate" is actually bigotry which stems from ignorance. Healthy people don't "hate" - uninformed people sometimes do...for example George Bush is an ignorant person whose bigoted views have caused untold misery in this world - he should be held up as an example of the cost of ignorance. Regarding people hating Americans in particular - econonomically, Americans are near the top of the heap and many Americans view this current economic spot as evidence of their country's superiority...this of course is foolish thinking and unfortunately not exclusive to Americans. In order to get a proper perspective one needs to realize this is an interdependent world...and the hate that fills an individual too often can turn into a war which can kill innocent people.

BTW, as far as Britain being the USA's "parent" country - true that our legal system is based somewhat on the English model - But this country was built by immigrants and slaves from many countries and to give all the credit or blame to England is not really accurate or useful in any analysis.

I have also traveled extensively and I find that there are very nice people and people who are somewhat less than nice in every place, including here at home.
Some people may not like America's politics. So what? A lot of Americans feel the same way. We can not expect everyone to love everything about America. There are some things we don't like ourselves and many are very vocal about what they don't like. People worldwide see this on CNN and other news media. They may not really think about whether those opinions are right or wrong or even if the majority of Americans feel that way. Reasoning with people generally helps them to differentiate the things they hate about America from the whole of America and it's people. And most will admit that, despite their misgivings, they would jump at the chance to come here and perhaps even become a citizen.

Hi.....

I am a Brit....

You can have a son, that you love very much.....

But you don't have to like him!!!

Especially when that son grows up, swindles the family business from you, then disrespects not only you but also your neighbours!!

Edit:
On the subject of black history!
The Dutch invented slavery, The Brits abolished it first, then campaigned the rest of the World, including America to stop it!
USA didn't stop it for long after and your human rights for black Americans, are even now rather shaky!!

Also, in a comprehensive study by the Japanese....
40% of 'everything' EVER invented... Was by the British!!!

So, the next time you.....
Board a train (invented by the British), take a trip on a jet (invented by the British), get in your car (internal combustion engine), go to the toilet, get a jab of penicilin, even strike a match!! ...... etc etc etc etc etc etc etc..

America has benefitted imensly from Britain in many forms and the entire fabric of your nation, is built on the main forms of society, that the British invented!

Democracy:
The form of Democracy that America uses, comes from Britain!!

Industry:
Industry, factories.... invented in Britain!

Your court system is a slight adaption of the British version!

I could go on and on and on!!

This is one of the main problems of the American way of thinking....

To think how great one is.... but forgetting how and why, that greatness was achieved and 'who' actually helped you achieve that greatness!!

Britain 'IS' the parent country to America and to simply forget or dismiss this, is an insult to the pilgrim fathers and to history itself!!

Did you know:
That the RED WHITE & BLUE of the Stars & Stripes are these colours, because America wanted to still show some union with Britain and 'not' forget their 'own' history and heritage!?

Also, that the red stripes on the American flag, represent the 13 British colonies!!??

That the American flag, is a direct copy of the flag used by the 'British' India Company!!??

For you to state that the American history is 'more interesting than the British history'....

I think you should do more research on that subject!
Britain has one of the most richest histories in the World!!

For the main part....
Britain IS Americas history!!!

To be honest....

Reading the things you have written after your original question....
These 'are' some of the reasons that 'some' of the British and 'most' of the rest of the World dislike America and Americans!
Your ignorance!!!

Your countries debt:
You may be giving to poor countries, but with 'other' countries money!!!

Anyway....
There was 'once' a saying:
'The sun will 'never' set on the British Empire'...

Something you and your country should listen to!

You know what they say!?
'Bigger they are, harder they fall'!!!!

I am a US citizen living abroad, so I have been getting verbally bashed by nearly everyone I meet for the 23 years I have been outside my home country. I refuse to lie about where I am from, but sometimes when I get tired of listening to it I just refuse to tell people where I am from. I don´t really have THE answer for you as to why these people are so RUDE, but that is what it boils down to. If I meet someone from a country that is unpopular for whatever reason, I never take it out on the individual who is standing in front of me. The prejudice people feel against any nation are usually based on the behaviour of a few, whether they are politicians making stupid mistakes or if they are tourists not thinking about the reputation of their home country when they travel. People should never throw everyone into the same bag, but unfortunately, most of them do it.

I have nothing against Americans individually at all. Some of yr political policies are not to my liking.
But some good things have come out of America, you are right.
One thing I would say is that most of the Americans I have met are very polite and intelligent.
Yr culture is a greedy culture though based on money, money, money and to keep feeding that greedy monster you have to go marching around in other people's countries to find the necessary resources to keep it fed. (Mind u the U.K. are not angels in this respect). I am not bashing u personally, I am sure we could get along fine.

fair points, with two minor problems.
1) Britian is your parent country, not your brother
2) While your comment on the great advances made may be correct for some things, I really think you should check who invented these things. Being in America does not make you american. And heating? The romans invented the first forms of central heating 2000 years ago, so I don't think you can claim that one. Faraday was English, inventor of the electric generator.

Please check your facts beforehand.

You're right in one respect, if the United States all the sudden decided it wanted to close it's borders and not deal with other countries, and we brought back all are troops and took back all our money and supplies, the world would become chaotic for awhile. But at the same time, the United States has done so much shady s#!t around the world, I don't blame people for not liking us, in fact sometimes I don't even like us.

I am a Brit but have actually brought this up before. I have been to the US many times and love the country and its people. I have yet to meet an American who was not kind, helpful or friendly. Im sure there are some rotten eggs in the US as there certainly are in the UK, but I hate it when people (from any country) tar people (from any country) with the same brush! Its nasty and uncalled for. We are allies and should stick together as such.

you say if america pull everything with its name on people will
lose there jobs.but if the rest of the world.ie britian/ecc/japan
call in the debts that america owes then it will go bust tomorrow.america live off debt.dont you know america is in debt to the above countrys for trillions of dollars.so it should be the americas who should be thanking us.for keeping then
in things that they could not afford if they had to pay up front.
i dont hate americas.but they should get out of the usa a bit more and see what the rest of the world really is like.and not what cr*p they see on tv and from hollywood.
