It doesn`t sound as though the PJ have much faith in the UK police to get the job done.
I expect they are only asking permission to question them here as a curtesy.
I would think they could summon them all out to Portugal for grilling, am I right?

The Portuguese Authority allowed The McCanns to go home, knowing that they had no jurisdiction in the UK should they be required to recall the McCanns for questioning.

It's all B*LLoCKs. The Portuguese "media" are spreading these rumours. The information that you have scraped out of some rag, translated and lost, is just the Portuguese "media" trying to play tit for tat on behalf of their own incompetent Police Service.

Had Madeleine been snatched in the UK, the McCanns would not be were they are today. For a start of British Police would never have allowed suspects in a disappearance case to roam about all over the world for 6 months. They certainly would have acted if anyone "suspect" tried to set up a million pound fund, and I am sure, someone would be locked up on remand IF any DNA was found in the boot of a car.

The reason they are free to roam about now & were totally FREE to leave Portugal in September - There is no evidence to support the lies, speculation and rumours being spread solely by the Associated Press.

This Case is a travesty. For Madeleine, for the McCann's, their extended family & for justice.

Madeleine is still missing. SHE MUST BE FOUND.

Good point. Could they compel them to return to Portugal for questioning ? For trial ? I suppose they can persuade the authorities here that it is vital to the investigation that they return to Portugal. The authorities in England will have to weight the pros and cons of refusing or of granting leave/compelling the McCanns to go. Their considerations will have to include (1) public opinion--- what will the British public think of their Justice system if we refuse and (2) world opinion -- what will the world think of our Justice system if we refuse.
One thing is almost certain... the Portuguese PJ-GNR is also aware that they are under world scrutiny and will not want to be the dumb-asses in the case.so that, by putting those 140 question to the McCanns via the British Police AND THEN making the world aware that those were handed to the British police, the PJ-GNR will then wash their hands of the case and the onus will remain on the British if the McCanns are not compelled to answer them.

They agreed they might circulate back if the Portugese talked approximately as them back, yet i do no longer think of they're going to circulate except they're certain finished immunity from prosecution on ANY fee. i do no longer think of they ever had any objective of going back to Portugal, why else might they hire a lawyer who replaced into an authority in extradition concerns and why did they flee Portugal the 2nd they have been made arguidos. under Portugese regulation they're to blame of recent child ignore - no less than - and that fee incorporates a penal complex sentence. Who knows what information the Portugese police have on the subject of alternative available crimes! The McCanns won't risk their own helpful necks whether they have been chuffed adequate to risk their new child's lives. little doubt their attorneys have already got here across a loophole of their contract with the PJ to return to Portugal if mandatory. Any commonplace, harmless, loving mothers and dads may be better than chuffed to return to the scene if it meant helping to locate their daughter. they might additionally desire to return to that little church to wish for her and additionally to thank the community citizens for all their help. it will be exciting to be sure if the McCanns act like harmless loving mothers and dads!

We will have to wait and see what develops here, I dont see why they should not return to Portugal, they have indicated that they would so I dont see a problem in them returning to answer further questions after Xmas if required to by the PJ.
They have not as far as we know refused to return.

The British police think the Portuguese police are incompetent; and the Portuguese police think the British are incompetent. It is now a fight between the police forces.

Only if they had enough evidence ......... apparently they don't.

Even though they are guilty as hell on child neglect charges which for the life of me STILL arent being pressed against them.

Where's the justice for Madeleine in that?
